To support this mission, OSIT has embarked on a multi-year modernization journey, within which the Lead Software Engineer will play a key role: working within our legacy application as we update it to a cloud-native platform which follows modern design standards.

Primary Responsibilities:
- Overall development life cycle of the solution and manage complex projects
- Leading the development team in the design, development, coding, testing, deployment, and debugging of applications
- Work with product managers in developing a strategy and road map to provide compelling capabilities for them that helps them succeed in their business goals.
- Work closely with other lead engineers to develop the best technical design and approach for new product development
- Instill best practices for software development and documentation, assure designs meet requirements, and deliver high-quality work on tight schedules
- Project management – prioritization, planning of projects and features, stakeholder management and tracking of external commitments
- Translate business requirements into technical solutions, recommend alternative technical and business approaches, and lead engineering efforts to meet aggressive timelines with optimal solutions
- Operational Excellence – build, deploy, monitor, and operation of production services
- Mentoring, career management and development of dotted line reports within the teams aligned to you
- Champion quality best practices and Test-Driven Development
- Lead adoption of Agile best practices
- Incident response – assist with troubleshooting and determining solutions for issues identified in war rooms

Required Qualifications:
- 4+ years of experience in full lifecycle of software development projects in an agile environment including Doman Driven Design and Event Driven Architecture
- 4+ years of experience working with and/or responding to critical incidents
- 4+ years of experience with building web applications and RESTful web services
- 4+ years of experience working with MS SQL, PostgreSQL, or other similar relational database management system
- 2+ years of experience working with .NET Core or similar object oriented programming language
- 2+ years of experience with Angular, React, or other JavaScript frameworks/ libraries
- 1+ years of experience with application containerization, deployment, and orchestration across environments along with CI/CD and test automation
- 1+ years of experience building cloud-native applications in Azure or similar cloud service provider
- United States Citizenship
- Ability to obtain favorable adjudication following submission of Department of Defense eQuip Form SF86 (PDF)
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a suitability or determination of eligibility for a Confidential/Secret or Top Secret security clearance
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or Computer Engineering or related field
- 1+ years of experience with networking and internet protocols
- 1+ years of experience troubleshooting applications running within Kubernetes
- 1+ years of experience working with cloud infrastructure (IaC) and automated provisioning and configuration management
- 1+ years of experience with Encryption, Public Key Infrastructure (PKI), understanding of OWASP
- 1+ years of experience with SOLID architectural principles and domain-driven design
- 1+ years of experience with microservices architecture
As a requirement of UnitedHealth Group’s contract with the Department of Defense, this position requires U.S. citizenship and proof of favorable adjudication following submission of Department of Defense eQuip Form SF86, (the National Agency Check Legal and Credit or NACLC). Successful completion of the NACLC process is a requirement for continued employment in this role. NACLC processing will be initiated by our TRICARE Security Officer post-offer and can take 3-6 months for a final decision communication from the Department of Defense. Candidates will be allowed to begin employment with UnitedHealth Group in this role based on an interim clearance, and final results will be communicated as they are received. Failure to obtain final NACLC approval will result in termination from this role.
