About the Role:

We're seeking a Senior Software Engineer, Performance, to own the ClickHouse cluster performance, scale distributed ClickHouse clusters (GKE/on-prem) serving petabyte analytical workloads, and focus on query efficiency + infra tuning across Data Eng/DevOps/Product teams.

Title: Senior/Staff Software Engineer/Architect

Location: 100% remote

What You'll Do?

Query & Schema Performance:

Analyze/optimize slow queries for UI/dashboards.
Design schema for analytics/UI performance.
Tune MergeTree (primary keys, TTL, compression).

Cluster & Infra Tuning:

Optimize K8s (GKE/on-prem) configs: memory/threads/merges/replication/sharding.
Benchmark compute (C2/N2D) vs memory types; workload isolation.

Workload & Observability:

Heavy analytical reporting/backfills (not pipelines); merge pressure reduction.
Build Grafana dashboards for latency/merges/IO; RCA bottlenecks.
Capacity planning; query governance; cost-perf opt (GCP/S3).

What You Bring:

Production ClickHouse: Query/UI opt examples w/ metrics.
Deep ClickHouse: MergeTree/distributed tables/replication.
SQL Mastery: Schema, projections for UI filters.
Infra: K8s/GKE; Linux performance.
Backend experience in Python/Go/Django/FastAPI/Java/Golang/NodeJS is great to have.
