About Us: We are an early-stage SaaS startup in the AI space, building “Brief,” a platform that streamlines document menagement with AI. As a Sr. Product Designer, you will be one of our first design hires and wear many hats to shape our product from the ground up. This role combines hands-on UI/UX design with product management responsibilities. You’ll collaborate directly with the founders and engineers to craft an intuitive user experience and drive product strategy.

If you’ve thrived in startup environments and love taking ideas from concept to reality, this role is for you. This role is for someone interested in moving from becoming a skilled designer to an actual product leader with end to end ownership.

Location: Remote-first (U.S. time zones only).

Compensation: Early-stage salary (minimum wage-level) + equity (This role offers a modest base salary with an ownership stake in the company, reflecting its founding team nature.)

Experience: 2+ years in product design and/or product management, with experience executing products end to end required. Some experience in startup environments would be a bonus.

Responsibilities:

  • UI/UX Design & Implementation: Design wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity user interfaces in Figma, and implement them using our front-end tools (e.g. Plasmic). Ensure a polished, user-friendly experience across the product.
  • Design System Ownership: Define and evolve our design system and style guidelines to ensure a consistent, scalable UI across all components
  • Maintain visual standards (typography, spacing, etc.) as the single source of truth for design.
  • Product Strategy & Roadmap: Translate business goals and customer needs into a clear product roadmap. Define and spec out new features, balancing aesthetics, usability, and technical feasibility; Prioritize the feature backlog and make tactical trade-off decisions to maximize impact.
  • User Research & Discovery: Conduct user research, customer discovery calls, and onboarding sessions to gather insights. Champion user needs by engaging with customers and refining the product based on their feedback
  • End-to-End Product Execution: Own the product development lifecycle from idea to launch. Write product requirements/user stories, work closely with engineers on implementation, and perform UAT/QA on new releases to ensure they meet specifications and a high UX bar.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate closely with the founders and engineering team to align product initiatives with business objectives
  • Process & Continuous Improvement: Set up foundational design and product management processes to help us scale effectively as we grow (e.g., institute regular user testing, feedback loops, and iterative design reviews. Be ready to wear multiple hats – whether it’s updating a landing page, tweaking CSS in Plasmic, or brainstorming growth ideas – to move the product forward).

Requirements:

  • Hands-on Product & Design Experience: 2+ years of combined experience in product design (UI/UX) and/or product management. You’ve taken products or features from idea to launch and can speak to how you made decisions along the way.
  • UI/UX Skill Set: Strong portfolio demonstrating excellent UI/UX design skills. Proficiency with design tools like Figma is required. An eye for good design – you understand typography, layout, and visual hierarchy, and can create beautiful yet functional interfaces.
  • Front-End Familiarity (Bonus): Ability to implement or closely collaborate on front-end implementation. Experience with modern web/front-end tech or visual builders is a plus (e.g. basic HTML/CSS, React components, Plasmic, etc.). Being technically savvy helps you iterate quickly
  • Product Management Skills: Strong product sense and user empathy. Able to conduct user interviews and translate pain points into product improvements. Experience writing clear product specs or user stories. Organized and capable of managing a product backlog/roadmap.
  • Communication & Collaboration: Excellent communication skills. Comfortable leading customer calls (for discovery or support) and working with engineers/founders to drive decisions. You can clearly articulate the “why” behind design and product choices to stakeholders.
  • Self-Starter & Ownership: Entrepreneurial attitude with high ownership. You take initiative and can drive projects with minimal guidance, thriving in ambiguity to get things done. When you see a problem or an opportunity, you act on it.
  • Passion: Genuine interest in SaaS and AI products. You stay up-to-date on UX trends and have a desire to build an impactful product from scratch. A positive, solutions-oriented attitude and willingness to wear multiple hats on a small team.

What We Offer:

  • Impact & Autonomy: A lead role in the founding team where you’ll shape the product and user experience end-to-end. Your work will have immediate, significant impact on our direction.

  • Equity & Growth Opportunity: Founders-level equity participation. As we grow, this role can evolve into a Head of Design position. We’re looking for someone who wants to grow with the company.

Flexible Remote Work: We are a remote-first company with flexibility in work hours (overlap with U.S. time zones required for collaboration). We value outcomes over clock-in/clock-out.

  • Mission-Driven Team: Join a small, passionate team working at the cutting edge of AI in SaaS. We foster a culture of innovation, transparency, and continuous learning. You’ll be working closely with the CEO and CTO, with no bureaucracy in the way of getting things done.

If you’re excited by the chance to own a product’s design and direction at an early stage and are not afraid to roll up your sleeves, we’d love to hear from you! Apply now to build something amazing together.
