Sr Product Designer, AI Initiatives

Overview:

athenahealth is seeking a Senior Product Designer to join our AI Tiger Team, a group dedicated to leading the integration of AI technologies across our platforms. In this role, you will provide crucial design and research services to create guidelines and accelerate AI adoption within the organization. You will work closely with researchers, program and product managers to experiment with and implement AI solutions, driving the future of healthcare technology.

Responsibilities:

• Design Leadership: Lead the design and development of AI-driven projects by crafting high-quality designs and wireframes for AI experiments.
• Collaboration and Mentorship: Act as a "Player/Coach" to both lead design efforts and mentor junior designers. Facilitate collaboration across diverse teams to ensure cohesive design language and implementation.
• Documentation and Guidelines: Develop comprehensive documentation and design guidelines for AI integration, enabling smooth adoption and consistent application across teams.
• UI/UX Development: Create and refine UI components, libraries, and patterns that establish the visual and interaction language for AI features within our flagship product, athenaOne.
• Research and Validation: Plan and conduct design research to validate AI concepts and implementations. Synthesize and share findings to foster a data-driven approach in AI feature development.
• Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with teams across the Collector platform to ensure designs are implemented accurately and within project timelines.

Key Deliverables:

• Design prototypes and wireframes for AI experiments.
• Educational materials and documentation for AI implementation.
• Defined UI components and design patterns for AI integration.
• Research reports and insights on AI usability and effectiveness.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in product design, with a focus on AI-driven products or services.
• Healthcare experience a big plus
• Proven ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment.
• Strong portfolio showcasing expertise in UI/UX design, particularly in AI or technology-driven projects.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and organizational skills.
• Experience mentoring or leading design teams is highly desirable.
