Senior / Lead Developer Role Overview

The Senior / Lead Developer will play a hybrid role as both a hands-on engineer and a client-facing technical lead. This position combines deep technical execution with the ability to guide nearshore/offshore developers, contribute to early discovery discussions, and help shape solutions that are both functional and feasible within defined budgets.

You’ll work closely with product and design teams to translate ideas into scalable, efficient, and maintainable systems—balancing technical rigor with practical implementation. This is an ideal role for someone who thrives in both code and conversation: someone who can explain technical trade-offs clearly, answer client questions on the fly, and architect solutions that fit real-world constraints.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership

• Lead and mentor 1–2 distributed developers, ensuring consistency, quality, and delivery velocity.
• Establish and uphold architectural standards across front-end and back-end systems.
• Collaborate with product and design teams to translate business goals into structured, achievable technical plans.
• Conduct code reviews, enforce best practices, and drive continuous improvement.
• Serve as the internal N8N subject-matter expert, providing guidance on workflow automation design, security, and performance.
• Mentor developers in N8N implementation best practices, encouraging maintainable, reusable, and scalable automation solutions.

Hands-On Development

• Contribute directly to the codebase—building secure, scalable, and well- documented features using Google App Script, SQL, JavaScript/TypeScript, and supporting frameworks.
• Develop APIs, integrations, and modular components that align with microapp and serverless architecture principles.
• Design, build, and maintain workflow automations using N8N, ensuring scalable and secure integrations between internal systems and client platforms.
• Optimize performance, reliability, and maintainability of systems in production.

Client Collaboration & Discovery

• Join client meetings during the discovery phase to assess technical feasibility, surface risks, and recommend cost-effective approaches.
• Clearly articulate trade-offs between time, cost, and functionality, helping clients make informed decisions.
• Act as a trusted technical partner—translating complex engineering concepts into straightforward, actionable insights.
• Support the Technical Program Manager and Product Owner in aligning development scope to budget and timeline.

Architecture & Innovation

• Champion modular design and microapp principles to support scalable development.
• Identify opportunities for automation, AI assistance, and workflow optimization.
• Contribute to Devblock’s internal frameworks, reusable components, and knowledge base.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of professional development experience with a strong portfolio of shipped projects.
• Proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript, SQL, and Google App Script or comparable serverless frameworks.
• Proficiency in using AI-Driven Feature and Technical Specifications, such as v0.dev, Claude, ChatGPT, etc.
• Strong understanding of cloud infrastructure (Google Cloud preferred), API design, and database optimization.
• Hands-on experience implementing workflow automations in N8N (or similar tools such as Zapier, Make, or Airplane).
• Proven experience mentoring small teams and leading technical delivery.
• Excellent client-facing communication skills; able to confidently explain complex topics and adapt in real time.
• Practical mindset with an ability to design within scope, timeline, and budget constraints.
• Familiarity with microapp or modular architectures, CI/CD pipelines, and code management tools.
