About Bowser AI
North America is reindustrializing. There is an enormous amount to build, and not enough people to build it. Construction is the only major industry where productivity has declined: workers spend more time waiting, searching, and coordinating than actually building.
Bowser AI is building the platform that makes every worker on the job site more productive. We capture what's really happening on job sites, validate what works, and scale proven improvements across operations. We're deeply embedded with one of the largest mechanical contractors in the US as our design and development partner, and are backed by E3 Tech (www.e-3.tech - investment firm launched in partnership with a16z).
This role is our first hire and would be a founding engineer role for the right candidate.
The Role
You'll own application development and technical customer integration.
This is not a "ticket taker" role. You'll work directly with field teams and project managers at our customer sites, understand their problems firsthand, and ship software that solves them. You'll have significant autonomy over technical decisions and architecture.
You'll work directly with founder/CEO, who's spent the last decade developing industry-changing projects at Google[x] and Google Research. He holds the product vision, you own and drive the build.
What you'll do:
- Build and ship the core product, full stack, end to end
- Engage directly with customers: site visits, integration support, feedback sessions
- Make technical architecture decisions with real constraints (field conditions, connectivity, supported hardware)
- Develop AI-powered features using vision models, voice agents, LLMs, and other emerging tools
- Move fast in ambiguity, with the CEO/founder providing direction, priorities, and a technical sounding board
What We're Looking For
Must have:
- Passion to use software to impact the physical world
- 5-8+ years of professional software development experience
- Full-stack application development (you can build a complete product, not just features)
- Comfort working directly with non-technical customers
- Self-directed work style: you take a problem from ambiguity through delivery. You'll have a sounding board and thought partner, but limited hand-holding
- Strong communication skills and professional presence
- Be able to travel to the US
Lots of bonus points:
- Experience building with AI/ML in production (LLMs, vision models, voice agents, or similar)
- Experience with edge computing, on-device inference, or low-connectivity environments
- Experience developing mobile apps
Nice to have:
- Flutter / Dart experience
- Experience as an early hire at a startup (you know what "build everything" means)
- Experience in construction, manufacturing, industrials, or other field/heavy industries
## Location
- Eastern Time zone strongly preferred
- Remote-first, but able to make occasional customer site visits
Why This Role
- First engineer at a company with real funding, a real customer, and a massive market.
- You'll build with AI tools from day one, not retrofit them onto legacy systems. We are AI native.
- Direct access to end users from week one. No layers between you and the problem.
- Work with a Canadian/American founder who has deep technical expertise, industry relationships, and a decade in Silicon Valley's most innovative labs.
Compensation
- Base salary: CA$150,000–200,000 (of USD equivilent)
- Equity in an early-stage, venture-backed company
