Who You are:

We’re seeking an experienced Software Engineer & Data Scientist to take a leading role in designing and building critical components of our home electrification platform.

You’ll collaborate with a mission-driven team of engineers, designers and domain experts to deliver high-quality, scalable solutions that help decarbonise the residential built environment.

Ideally, you’re a builder who bridges the gap between software engineering and data science. You thrive in mission-driven environments and care deeply about using data to drive smarter decisions and better climate outcomes. You’ve worked on end-to-end systems—modeling real-world problems, deploying predictive tools into production, and building the interfaces and infrastructure that bring them to life for users.

You may not call yourself a “data scientist” full-time, but you’re comfortable working with data, collaborating on model design, and turning insights into scalable product features.

You’re fluent in the tools of modern software development and data workflows—perhaps working in a stack that includes Python, Jupyter or similar.

Most importantly, you care about building elegant, impactful solutions that help decarbonise the built environment at scale.

What You’ll Be Driving:

Full-stack development of new software features and products, testing, bug fixing, improvements and refactoring using JS, Python and other tools.
Research & Development of new energy modeling algorithms and techniques.
Data analysis and reporting in collaboration with our customers, both ad hoc, and in the development of self-service reporting products.
DevOps tasks, including optimising infrastructure design, CI/CD, resilience and security testing.
Contributing to product management, UX testing and design, with BOOMPower team, partners and customers.
Other ad hoc tasks as required, given the flexible nature of startup environments.
Design and implement backend services (Python, Django) for job tracking, customer data, and third-party integrations (e.g. utility APIs, financing platforms).
Implement data-driven solutions to improve customer workflows and electrification outcomes.

What You Bring To The Table:

5+ years of experience in full stack software development.
Strong competency in the Python data science stack, including NumPy/SciPy, Pandas, as well as fundamentals in data analysis, statistics and visualization.
Some experience with web development
Strong communication and collaboration skills.
A bias for action and the ability to thrive in fast-moving, mission-driven environments.

Nice to Have:

Experience in climate tech, energy, HVAC, or home services platforms.
Knowledge of geospatial data, energy modeling, or solar/EV integrations.
Contributions to open-source projects or climate/sustainability communities.
Knowledge of marketing analytics and conversion optimization.
Background in physical sciences (physics, electrical/mechanical engineering, or similar).
Experience in frontend development using React.
