In This Role

In this role, you will serve as a hands-on development engineer responsible for the reliability, security, and operational excellence of a customer-facing data connector service. You will focus on maintaining and improving a production system by resolving live-site issues, implementing security fixes, and enhancing service observability through improved logging, metrics, and telemetry.

You will collaborate with engineering, support, and security teams to diagnose and resolve customer-impacting incidents, automate operational tasks, and strengthen service resiliency. This role requires strong backend development skills in C#/.NET, experience operating large-scale services in production environments, and the ability to perform deep root-cause analysis to prevent recurring issues.

The ideal candidate is comfortable working in live production environments, improving system reliability, building operational tooling, and driving continuous improvements that reduce operational overhead and accelerate incident resolution.

Responsibilities

  • Own the day-to-day engineering health of a customer-facing data connector service, ensuring reliability, stability, and security.
  • Investigate and resolve customer-impacting incidents, performing root cause analysis and implementing long-term fixes.
  • Address service reliability issues, bugs, and security vulnerabilities in production environments.
  • Implement security remediations and secure coding practices to maintain compliance with enterprise security standards.
  • Improve service observability by enhancing logging, metrics, distributed tracing, and alerting systems.
  • Develop and maintain telemetry pipelines and dashboards to monitor service health, usage, failures, and performance trends.
  • Automate recurring operational tasks to reduce manual support effort and operational overhead.
  • Contribute to service hardening and resiliency improvements, including failure-mode analysis and preventative engineering fixes.
  • Maintain and enhance backend services primarily written in C#/.NET, with occasional support for React-based UI components.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams during incident response, debugging, and service recovery efforts.
  • Maintain clear technical documentation, including operational workflows, service architecture, and known failure modes.
  • Provide regular reporting on engineering health metrics, including incident trends, reliability improvements, and automation initiatives.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Strong experience developing and maintaining production services using C# and .NET technologies.
  • Experience diagnosing and resolving live-site production issues in large-scale, customer-facing systems.
  • Hands-on experience implementing and working with logging, metrics, distributed tracing, and alerting systems.
  • Familiarity with secure coding practices and responding to security vulnerabilities in production services.
  • Experience building automation tools or scripts to streamline operational workflows and reduce manual tasks.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with engineering, support, security, and compliance teams during incident response.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to perform deep root-cause analysis.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for incident reporting, postmortems, and technical documentation.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting enterprise-scale APIs or data services with strict reliability and compliance requirements.
  • Familiarity with React or modern frontend frameworks for debugging or maintaining user interface components.
  • Experience working with cloud-based infrastructure and deployments, particularly within Azure environments.
  • Background improving service observability, monitoring, and telemetry systems.
  • Experience reducing operational overhead through automation and operational tooling.
  • Understanding of data privacy, governance, and regulatory compliance requirements in enterprise environments.
  • Experience working with incident management systems, post-incident reviews, and operational excellence frameworks.
  • Ability to communicate technical risks, incidents, and reliability improvements to leadership through concise executive summaries.
