As a Senior Software Engineer at Bitwarden, you will contribute directly to the future of the Bitwarden products while working with a great team and amazing open source community. We're looking for someone who can take ownership of delivering valuable features throughout the entire development lifecycle and play a direct role in shaping our product and team.
This is an all-remote team and we are looking for someone located in the U.S. We do not offer visa sponsorship at this time.
This is a senior-level position, but we're looking for someone who can grow into a tech lead role.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Become an expert and authority on the Bitwarden codebase, including frontend and backend infrastructure, APIs, database, web app, browser extensions, desktop apps, and more.
Participate in hands-on development of the Bitwarden products.
Participate in code reviews, learning and spreading technical knowledge.
Independently plan, estimate and deliver small and moderate solutions.
Occasionally, collaborate with the user community on bug fixes/feature work contributed by them
Focus on improving the features that fall under the responsibility of the Tools team, including:
Import and Export feature (backup of the data)
Credential Generators
Bitwarden Send
Acquire comprehensive domain knowledge to guide the team's technical direction, including feature development and technical debt management.
Set and show standards and best practices for the team, ensuring these are maintained in their work.
Lead architectural discussions for upcoming initiatives, encouraging the team to consider potential complexities and identify necessary refinements.
Collaborate with the Engineering Manager to ensure the team's sprint tasks are well-refined and the most efficient workflow is established.
Proactively detect risks, develop mitigation plans, and communicate possible delays.

In the United States, the starting base compensation range for this role is $170,000 - $215,000. Actual compensation may vary based on level, relevant experience, and skill set as assessed in the interview process, as well as market data by location. See our careers page for a list of benefits.
