About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Lead Backend Software Engineer to join our high-performing team. In this role, you will help drive the design, development, and optimisation of high-quality, scalable backend systems. With 6+ years of commercial experience in .NET/C#, you will play a key role in building robust backend services and cloud-based APIs that meet the highest standards for performance, security, and maintainability. You will work within a team that values exceptional code quality and aims to deliver reliable, performant solutions through rigorous testing and continuous integration.

While full DevOps skills are not mandatory, experience with Azure Cloud is preferred, and a solid understanding of cloud-based API development is essential.

Responsibilities

Design and develop scalable, high-performance backend services using .NET/C#, prioritising clean, maintainable, and high-quality code.
Build and optimise RESTful APIs and microservices for cloud-based applications, ensuring they meet high standards of reliability and security.
Work with Azure Cloud services to deploy, manage, and scale applications efficiently, maintaining the highest standards of performance and uptime.
Collaborate closely with frontend developers, product managers, and stakeholders to align on delivering solutions that exceed expectations.
Ensure that all backend systems are robust, secure, and highly available through comprehensive testing and monitoring.
Champion best practices in automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, and code quality to ensure continuous delivery of high-quality software.
Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues across the backend stack, always ensuring minimal disruption to operations.
Lead code reviews, mentor junior developers, and foster a knowledge-sharing culture focused on improving both individual and team performance.
Stay at the forefront of emerging technologies and trends, bringing innovative solutions to the team while maintaining an eye for code quality and long-term maintainability.

About You

6+ years of experience in .NET/C# backend development, with a strong commitment to writing clean, efficient, and well-structured code.
Expertise in designing and building cloud-based APIs and microservices architectures, with an emphasis on scalability and performance.
Experience with Azure Cloud services (preferred but not mandatory) to build and deploy resilient cloud-based applications.
A solid understanding of CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and best practices in DevOps for efficient development and deployment processes.
A passion for code quality and a strong advocate for best practices—you will actively participate in setting and enforcing team coding standards.
Experience in Agile environments, contributing to iterative development cycles, participating in sprint planning, stand-ups, and reviews.
A proactive problem-solver, able to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams to achieve project goals.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
