Duties
- Lead the development of mechanical and electrical system designs using CAD (Computer-Aided Design) software, ensuring compliance with industry standards such as ASME codes & standards.
- Conduct detailed system design analyses utilizing MATLAB and FEA (Finite Element Analysis) to validate structural integrity and performance under operational conditions.
- Prepare comprehensive project schedules to coordinate engineering tasks, monitor progress, and meet critical deadlines for vessel construction or retrofit projects.
- Collaborate closely with project teams to oversee the installation, testing, and commissioning of mechanical systems on ships or offshore platforms.
- Develop technical specifications and detailed drawings for mechanical components, ensuring adherence to safety regulations and quality standards.
- Support construction activities by providing technical guidance, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring that all work aligns with engineering plans and project timelines.
- Apply solidWorks for 3D modeling of mechanical parts and assemblies, facilitating precise fabrication and assembly processes.
- Ensure all engineering work complies with relevant electrical engineering principles and integrates seamlessly with mechanical systems for optimal functionality.
- Maintain thorough documentation of project progress, system modifications, and compliance records in accordance with industry standards.
Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field; advanced certifications in marine or systems engineering are a plus.
- Proven experience in project scheduling, system design, and mechanical engineering within the maritime or heavy industry sectors.
- Hands-on experience with CAD software such as SolidWorks and CAD tools for detailed mechanical modeling.
- Strong proficiency in MATLAB for data analysis, simulation, and control system design relevant to marine applications.
- Familiarity with FEA techniques to assess structural components under various load conditions.
- Knowledge of ASME codes & standards governing pressure vessels, piping systems, and structural components used in marine environments.
- Experience working on construction projects involving complex mechanical systems for ships or offshore structures.
- Solid understanding of electrical engineering principles as they relate to integrated marine systems.
