Director, Product Design

Beyond powers the business of short-term rentals with a best-in-class Revenue Management System used by thousands of property managers and owners around the world. It's with that in mind that Beyond is looking to add a Director of Design to lead and scale the design function across both product and marketing. This is a hands-on leadership role—equal parts strategic thinker, craftsperson, and team builder. You’ll report to the VP of Product and work closely with engineering, product, and marketing to deliver elegant, high-performing experiences that drive growth and retention.

As we focus on our product-led growth strategy, we are doubling down on design-driven simplicity. We need a design leader who can evolve our systems, elevate our craft, and leverage the rapidly changing design tools available to ensure that every interaction, from first touch to long-term retention, reinforces our value.

As our Director of Design, you'll be responsible for:

• Leading design at Beyond - setting the vision and raising the bar across product design, brand design and marketing
• Managing a high-performing team of 5+ designers across product and brand
• Partnering deeply with Product, Engineering, and Marketing to drive strategy, alignment, and execution to improve the customer journey
• Rolling up your sleeves to provide direction, unblock teams, and contribute directly when needed
• Influence vision and design execution for impact on high-priority initiatives. Dive into details to drive hard decisions forward.
• Championing a voice-of-the-customer mindset — leading continuous discovery, modernizing research processes, and embedding insights into team rituals
• Proactively integrating emerging tech (like AI) that can increase design velocity and experimentation. Encouraging the team to have a curious and optimistic approach to the changing landscape of design, to enable them to focus more on the human-centered problem solving parts of the job.
• Ensuring the team delivers with consistency and speed, prioritizing high-impact work and building systems that scale quality over time
• Role-model boundaryless design ownership and cultivate a sharp product sense in the team.

Now that we’ve told you what the job looks like, here are the qualifications we're looking for in a candidate:

• 8+ years in design roles, with 2–4+ years managing designers; ideally experience leading both product and brand/marketing design
• Proven success in a high-growth SaaS or prosumer business; PLG experience a strong plus
• Track record of delivering exceptional IC work - setting a high bar for quality, a principle-first approach to interaction design, and great storytelling abilities
• Strong ability to balance hands-on design work with team leadership, mentorship, and strategic influence
• Demonstrated ability to champion research and user insight-driven decision making across cross-functional teams and within your design team; experience building research processes is a plus.
• Passion for your craft, a commitment to excellence in what’s shipped, and a focus on continuous iteration; experience implementing design systems is a strong plus
• Curious and forward-looking — excited about how AI and emerging tools are reshaping the design industry
• Strong cross-functional communicator who can align teams and influence without ego
