Mission-driven nonprofit in early childhood education seeks a Director of Business Development & Marketing. This role leads the business development and marketing teams in a dynamic and growing organization to drive growth in partnerships while continuing to nurture and expand a strong base of committed partners. This role will provide a strong central framework and vision for a key area of the organization, guiding existing and future team members in their dedicated efforts and managing collaboration across functional areas to drive development activities. This role will play a central role in helping build and cultivate strong relationships with school administrators and will be responsible for keeping a finger on the pulse of local, state, and national early childhood education trends, early learning, and elementary education funding opportunities.
Responsibilities:
- Develop strategic vision for business development and marketing.
- Provide a framework within which the business development and marketing teams are empowered and equipped with necessary knowledge.
- Establish and monitor business development interactions, sales engagement sequences, and marketing campaigns and their impact.
- Oversee the achievement of revenue forecasts and the success of business development goals. Formulate marketing plans, both short- and long-range, to ensure the achievement of objectives.
- Oversee the team’s activity within CRM tools Salesforce and HubSpot.
- Monitor established quarterly and annual goals and key performance indicators, and identify areas of opportunity for growth.
- Continuously use data to lead team learning and connect data to actionable next steps.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth contracting, invoicing, scheduling, staffing, and delivery of services.
- Identify, review, and recommend opportunities for new revenue streams and expansion opportunities.
- Leverage a strong understanding of customer needs and challenges, trends, and the market and competitors to refine messaging and strategy.
- Build relationships with and explore ways to partner with local philanthropic funders.
- Develop relationships with key stakeholders in Departments of Education, early childhood programs, and public school decision makers.
- Continue to develop a strong understanding of public education and early childhood programs including knowledge of their budgeting cycles and designs, and the current availability and impact of state and federal grants and funding.
- Oversee and manage curriculum approval processes and submissions.
- Represent organization at industry events and forums.
Qualifications:
- 10+ years of successful senior-level business development and marketing leadership experience; experience in educational sales in the early childhood curriculum and professional learning space is a plus.
- Proven ability to lead and direct a distributed virtual team and supervise staff.
- Exceptional work ethic with the ability to develop, construct, and execute strategy independently while effectively building a collaborative, cross-functional team that thrives.
- Experience setting business development and marketing goals, tracking and reporting on progress, and creating actionable strategies to increase leads, build brand recognition, and achieve revenue targets.
- Highly skilled in working within digital platforms and tools to support business development and marketing efforts including CRMs like Salesforce and HubSpot.
- Experience with digital marketing and sales prospecting, and an understanding of how to design engagement series and campaigns, establish KPIs, track performance, and use data to improve outcomes.
- Successful experience developing and executing referral campaign strategies.
- Superior relationship-building skills.
- Must be proactive, driven, and resourceful. Must be a highly organized self-starter, able to work independently and under tight deadlines.
- Proven strong writing and editing ability; ability to quickly and effectively write high-quality engagement emails, marketing campaign materials, RFPs, reports, etc.
- Exceptional interpersonal communication skills.
