Over the past few years, we’ve evolved the experience from introducing new formats and interactions (e.g. video notes, voice message transcriptions, events) to new bets (e.g. Communities) and features (e.g. lists and filters) At the same time, WhatsApp is seeing an increasingly competitive messaging landscape - from content apps leaning into messaging to 3P messaging apps building stronger footholds with richer feature sets.

Role

We’re looking for a program manager to help support the Messaging product team. This senior program manager will help drive horizontal program operations across the Messaging sub-pillar, be on point for specific usability projects and data management projects that help our billions of daily Messaging users.

Job Responsibilities:

• Coordinate horizontal work streams across Messaging to improve the efficiency of the sub-pillar, enable better stakeholder management

• Coordinate usability and data management projects, making detailed plans to accomplish goals and directing the integration of technical and design solutions

• Confer with product, engineers, designers and marketing to discuss and align on project specifications and procedures.

• Strong ability to work independently and manage one’s time.

• Strong leadership and mentoring skills necessary to provide support and constructive performance feedback.

• Strong knowledge of product development processes and execution to maximize efficiency of the team and visibility to stakeholders

• Strong knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, and production methods.

• Strong knowledge of computer software, such as Google Docs, Sheets, Slides.

Nice to have:

• Has been responsible of supporting engineering teams 20+ people.

• Google G-suite.

• Someone who has a technical background.

• Someone who is a WhatsApp user.

• PMI or PMP certification preferred.

Someone who is a WhatsApp user.

10+ years in consumer tech.

Bachelor's degree in business administration or a related field and demonstrated experience in consumer tech.

Education/Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in business administration or a related field.

• PMI or PMP certification preferred.

MUST HAVE SKILLS

Must be able to collaborate and be independent.

Experience in complex consumer products, specifically someone that has worked deeply on product design (anything where they worked in a medium size company in consumer features)

An individual that can manage complex programs across stakeholder and someone who is coachable.

Great operator, with clear communication. Must be able to communicate with designers as well as senior stakeholders and present.

There is a lot of stakeholder management in the role/team because messaging is so central.

Messaging is less cross family of apps. More for stakeholder management.

The team is always very stretched – somebody that can manage their own time and does not get easily overwhelmed.
