Staff Software Engineer

Barden is delighted to partner with a tech company based in Cork, Ireland, as they look to hire an experienced Staff Engineer. This role offers the flexibility to work anywhere in Ireland while leading multiple teams and complex projects.

Reporting to the Chief Architect, you’ll guide technical direction across a diverse group of engineers, including backend, data science, and product design. You’ll oversee architectural decisions, mentor engineers, and collaborate with leadership to drive strategic initiatives.

ABOUT THE ROLE

• Lead and oversee multiple teams and projects, ensuring scalable, maintainable solutions.
• Drive architectural decisions and champion best engineering practices.
• Mentor engineers and foster a culture of ownership and continuous improvement.
• Work hands-on with Python backend systems (Django experience a plus).
• Collaborate on cloud infrastructure, preferably AWS.
• Support innovation through experimentation and problem-solving.
• Align technical solutions with business goals for reliability and security.

• 10+ years in backend software engineering with strong Python expertise.
• Proven leadership across teams and complex technical projects.
• Experience with cloud-native architectures, AWS preferred.
• Skilled mentor and strategic thinker balancing delivery with vision.
• Passionate about clean, maintainable code and engineering excellence.
• Comfortable in a fast-paced, collaborative remote working environment.
