About the Role
BARBRI is building the future of legal education through intuitive, outcome-driven digital learning experiences. As we continue to unify and evolve our product portfolio, we’re investing in a user-centered design practice that elevates the way students, educators, and legal professionals engage with our platforms.
As a Senior UX/UI Designer, you’ll play a critical hands-on role in shaping the user experience across both marketing and product surfaces, including web and mobile platforms. You will work closely with product owners, engineers, marketers, and researchers to craft cohesive, accessible, and high-impact designs that support users throughout their journey with BARBRI.
This is a hands-on, craft-focused role ideal for someone who is equally comfortable shaping design direction and executing high-quality interaction and visual design. You’ll contribute directly to discovery efforts, influence product decisions through evidence and insight, and ship features that improve real outcomes.
What You’ll Do
Support Product Discovery
Partner closely with product owners and engineers to explore user needs and define problems worth solving
Conduct or contribute to research activities, including user interviews, usability tests, and data reviews
Translate findings into testable design ideas and iterative prototypes
Participate in planning discussions to help prioritize product initiatives based on user insight and impact
Ability to navigate ambiguity and complexity while driving results and clarity for stakeholders
Design Exceptional Experiences
Design clean, usable, and engaging interfaces across responsive web and mobile platforms
Produce flows, prototypes, and high-fidelity visuals to support product goals
Own UX and UI design for your product area(s), collaborating to improve experiences across the entire learner journey
Balance usability, accessibility, and business context when making design decisions
Contribute to Continuous Improvement
Utilize user feedback, analytics, and experimentation to evaluate and evolve your designs
Advocate for iterative improvements to workflows, UI, and experience consistency
Share ideas for optimizing task success, reducing user friction, and elevating satisfaction
Enhance Systems Thinking
Contribute to BARBRI’s shared design system: extending components, patterns, and guidelines
Help ensure consistent experiences across products, platforms, and devices
Design for accessibility and inclusive experiences as standard practice
Work Collaboratively
Communicate design rationale clearly to product, engineering, and other stakeholders
Collaborate across the organization, including content, marketing, and support, on experience alignment
Mentor peers or junior designers when opportunities arise, contributing to a strong design culture
Who you are
An amazing digital artist and designer: You are a maker, a doer. You create beautiful things that viewers love to look at. Your work is engaging. You have a deep understanding of the user experience and a strong sense of empathy for the customer. You innately get just how important design is in the customer journey with BARBRI.
A detail-oriented, tech-savvy, self-starter: You’re comfortable with technology generally and eager to learn. You have expert-level proficiency in UX/UI design essentials. You’re disciplined and motivated, the kind of person who doesn’t need someone looking over your shoulder to make sure you’re doing your job.
An excellent team player: You communicate clearly, effectively, and politely with your teammates. In fact, you believe in “overcommunicating,” because you understand that lack of communication is the root cause of a dysfunctional team. You thrive on cross-functional teams with colleagues who have different areas of expertise.
A fun person: You don’t lose your cool. You bring out the best in the people around you. You don’t take yourself too seriously. You can make and take a joke.
What You’ll Bring
5–8 years of experience designing digital products, preferably in edtech, LMS, or SaaS environments
Strong portfolio showing end-to-end UX/UI work on real-world features
Proficiency in modern design tools (Figma is our favorite)
Solid foundation in usability, interaction design, and visual hierarchy
Experience with user research and usability testing methods
Familiarity with WCAG accessibility standards and inclusive design principles
Excellent collaboration and communication skills in product team environments
Degree in HCI, UX, or a related field preferred; UX certifications a plus
