Avenue Code is looking for a Senior Back End Engineer to join one of our major client's team in a Data Ingestion & Movement project, architecting and optimizing pipelines for throughput, reliability, and developer usability. As a Senior Software Engineer on the team, you will partner closely with Product Managers, Staff Engineers, and the internal customers to scale the data movement platform. We’re seeking a seasoned engineer to spearhead the design and implementation of scaling strategies, ensuring the platform remains robust under ever-increasing workloads.

This is a temporary position until the end of December 2025.

Responsibilities

Design and implement small features for the next generation Data Movement Platform
Implement throughput optimizations to support 10× data growth
Own features that span weeks end to end

Required Qualifications

3+ years of experience in software engineering or data engineering
Experience working on high availability, reliable, performant systems
Solid engineering fundamentals
Experience building complex and impactful software in a team environment
Expert in at least one object oriented backend language such as C# (preferred), Java, Scala
Experience scaling distributed systems for 10x growth
Experience with NoSQL databases, such as CosmosDB, DynamoDB, or Cassandra
Experience mentoring and growing junior engineers

Nice To Have Skills

Experience running complex workflows in a durable execution framework like Azure Durable Functions, Temporal, or Cadence
Experience with DevOps technologies like Terraform, Github Actions, and Docker
Experience building, operating and scaling data movement platforms
