What You'll Do

Are you a passionate design leader ready to drive exceptional user experiences? Join the design team in Marketing at Avalara as a Senior User Experience Designer and play a pivotal role in shaping user-centered, innovative solutions for our website and Marketing platforms. You’ll collaborate within an Agile framework alongside researchers, strategists, content experts, marketing managers, and engineers to craft experiences that are seamless, meaningful, and impactful.

What Your Responsibilities Will Be

• Lead the end-to-end (E2E) customer experience and champion design excellence at scale.
• Drive alignment with cross-disciplinary partners (e.g., Engineering, Program Management, Research) to shape experience vision and strategy.
• Simplify complex data into user-friendly, actionable insights, helping solve challenging customer problems.
• Orchestrate the E2E experience across digital touchpoints.
• Build and foster partnerships with key teams, including Brand, Marketing, Product Design, Engineering, Research, and Program Management, to define and deliver exceptional customer experiences.

What You’ll Need To Be Successful

• Bachelor’s degree in Design, User Experience, Human-Computer Interaction, or equivalent practical experience.
• 8+ years of professional experience as a UX Designer or in a similar role.
• Expertise in design and prototyping tools (e.g., Figma, InVision) and familiarity with front-end technologies (HTML/CSS/JS).
• A strong portfolio showcasing multiple projects that demonstrate your ability to create user-centered, intuitive digital interfaces.
• Experience working collaboratively with Designers, Researchers, Engineers, and Content Strategists throughout the design process.
• An understanding of both qualitative and quantitative user research methodologies.

Preferred Qualifications

• Leadership experience, such as managing teams or acting as a UX Lead, Strategist, or Product Manager.
• Familiarity with Atomic Design methodology and enterprise-level design systems like AEM.
• Outstanding conceptual, visual, and interaction design skills with a proven track record of delivering successful online experiences.
• Ability to communicate design concepts effectively across various audiences and organizational levels.
• Experience facilitating collaborative, cross-functional workshops using tools like Miro.
• Expertise in documenting user journeys and applying service design concepts to enhance customer experiences.
