Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced AV System Designer to join our remote design team. This is a mid-to-senior level role for highly skilled professionals with proven expertise in custom AV system design and documentation. The Designer will collaborate closely with sales representatives, project managers, and technical staff to develop tailored solutions that meet both client needs and AVS profitability standards. This role is ideal for someone who thrives on independent, self-directed work, demonstrates strong problem-solving and research skills, and consistently produces high-quality, standards-compliant designs. Key Responsibilities
● Create detailed AV system designs, drawings, and documentation using D-Tools System Integrator, Microsoft Visio, and Google Workspace (or equivalent platforms).
● Collaborate with sales and operations teams to translate client requirements into technically sound and profitable system designs.
● Ensure all AVS design standards and best practices are applied consistently across projects.
● Act as a resource for the design team—problem solving, troubleshooting, and providing expertise.
● Contribute to the development of team standards, processes, and design resources to maximize efficiency.
● Stay current on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices, becoming an internal expert in key areas.
● Foster excellent communication and relationships with internal stakeholders, vendors, and clients.
● Commit to professional development goals and work with leadership to continuously improve skills and knowledge. Qualifications Required:
● 5+ years of experience in AV system design or a related role in the custom integration industry.
● Proficiency with D-Tools SI, Microsoft Visio, and Google Workspace (or equivalent design/documentation platforms).
● Deep knowledge of home automation, distributed audio/video, surveillance, lighting control, motorized shading, and networking systems.
● Strong technical understanding of some of the major brands and platforms mentioned above.
● Excellent organizational, communication, and documentation skills.
● Ability to work independently in a remote environment with minimal supervision.
● Demonstrated problem-solving, research, and critical-thinking abilities.
Preferred:
● Industry certifications (CEDIA, Avixa CTS, or manufacturer-specific certifications).
● Experience creating sales proposals, installation and engineering drawings, rack elevations, and/or topology diagrams.
● Familiarity with both residential and commercial AV system integration.
