Our device edge management and orchestration solution extends the cloud development experience to MCU, MPU and CPU-based devices that don’t have the resources to run heavier containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes that require Linux as a foundation.

Atym also provides customers with a significant reduction in engineering friction and cost compared to traditional embedded development.

Our commercial offer is our orchestration hub that works in concert with our device runtime that's based on the open-source Ocre project in the Linux Foundation. Built with WebAssembly (Wasm) and Zephyr, Ocre supports OCI-like application containers in a footprint of just 128KB - 2,000x lighter than a typical Docker runtime based on Linux. By collaborating with the open-source and WebAssembly standards community, we aim to make the Ocre container format the de-facto standard for resource-constrained edge devices.  We like to call it “Docker on a Diet”.

Role

We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our platform team with a focus of refining our cloud-based orchestration hub.  The ideal candidate has a unique blend of expertise in modern cloud-native development and deep systems programming. In this role, you’ll help shape and evolve our platform’s core architecture, working across our centralized management infrastructure to our Wasm-based runtime to deliver a scalable, secure, and high-performance system.

This is a cross-functional position—ideal for someone who feels equally comfortable writing C/C++ as they are building cloud services in modern languages such as C# and Go.  The ideal candidate understands distributed systems and how to bridge the gap between centralized infrastructure and devices deployed at scale in the physical world.!

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain core components of our centralized orchestration hub.  The architecture is based on microservices running on k8s and written in C# and Go.
• Build and operate cloud services, developer tooling, and internal APIs that interact closely with our device runtime in the field.
• Shape and contribute to advanced device runtime capabilities such as Wasm module orchestration, lifecycle management, AoT compilation, and optimization.
• Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code across multiple languages and layers of the stack.
• Partner with teams across CTO, engineering, and DevOps to build a reliable and secure platform, championing DevSecOps principles and leveraging a GitOps-driven delivery model.
• Work closely with product managers, QA, and operations to ensure clarity of requirements, quality, and smooth delivery across the software lifecycle.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, including backend or infrastructure work.
• Strong experience with C/C++, systems programming, or kernel-level development.
• Solid understanding of WebAssembly and its execution model, including sandboxing and host integration.
• Experience building and maintaining cloud-native services (Kubernetes, microservices, APIs, CI/CD pipelines, data storage).  .NET (C#) and/or Go.
• Familiarity with virtualization, virtual machines or runtime environments.
• Excellent debugging and performance optimization skills.
• Expertise in OCI containers. container orchestration and microservice architectures using Kubernetes and Docker.
• Familiarity with DevSecOps practices including automated security testing, CI/CD, and secure code development. Understanding of GitOps workflows and best practices.
• Experience with Go, Rust, or other modern systems/cloud languages.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and a collaborative mindset.

Not Required, But a Plus

• Knowledge of the WebAssembly Systems Interface (WASI)
• Strong experience with Rust and/or C/C++, systems programming, or kernel-level development.
• Experience contributing to open-source projects related to Wasm, runtimes, or system libraries.
• Familiarity with Linux kernel interfaces, system calls, or syscall translation.
