Assured is on a mission to modernize insurance. Claims processing (i.e. should we pay this claim?), while often overlooked, is the foundation of the entire industry. It’s currently highly manual, involving phone calls, faxes, and gut instinct, costing tens of billions of dollars a year. We can do better.

We’re looking for a Staff Data Scientist to help power the intelligence behind Assured’s platform. You will work closely with product managers, engineers, and claims domain experts to build machine learning systems that automate key parts of the claims lifecycle. This is a high-impact technical leadership role focused on building models that improve decision-making, automation, and operational efficiency.

You will…

🔧Design models and systems that help automate and optimize claims handling, including; Liability prediction, Fraud detection, Document & image understanding.

🤝 Partner with product and engineering teams to translate claims workflows into ML solutions

⚙️ Prototype production-ready models and data pipelines

📈 Dive deep on early stage products to scale product market fit

🧩 Help shape the data science roadmap and architecture across Assured’s platform

You have…

🧠 Experience as a Staff or Principal Engineer with a focus on data science, machine learning, or applied AI

🚀 Experience deploying production ML systems

🐍 Strong skills in: Python, SQL, ML frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow, XGBoost, etc.), and modern data platforms (Snowflake, Spark, etc.)

📊 Experience working with structured and unstructured data

🧩 Ability to translate real-world business problems into ML solutions

🤝 Experience collaborating with product and engineering teams

⚙️ Experience building decision systems or automation platforms
