This is a foundational marketing leadership role with the opportunity to shape positioning, drive adoption, and influence product direction from the ground up.
Role Overview
The Director of Product Marketing will be responsible for building and scaling the product marketing function. This leader will own core messaging, develop go-to-market strategies, and partner across Product, Sales, and Customer Success to accelerate pipeline growth, shorten sales cycles, and elevate the brand’s voice in the market.
The ideal candidate brings deep experience in B2B cybersecurity marketing, a strong understanding of buyer dynamics in technical and enterprise environments, and the creative ability to translate complex security concepts into compelling stories.
Key Responsibilities
Positioning & Messaging
- Define and evolve differentiated product positioning, messaging, and value propositions for key personas and use cases
- Create high-impact narrative frameworks to guide product launches, content, and campaigns
- Ensure consistency across all internal and external touchpoints
Go-to-Market Strategy & Execution
- Lead the development and execution of go-to-market plans for product and feature releases
- Partner with Sales to develop enablement assets, battle cards, pitch decks, and training
- Collaborate with Product to align roadmap priorities with market opportunities and customer needs
Market Intelligence & Buyer Insights
- Conduct competitive analysis, market research, and customer interviews to inform messaging and GTM strategies
- Build detailed buyer personas and journey maps that guide campaign and content strategies
- Track market trends and threat landscapes to ensure relevance and differentiation
Sales & Demand Support
- Develop product-focused content including one-pagers, whitepapers, solution briefs, and case studies
- Collaborate with the demand generation team on product-focused campaigns and nurture tracks
- Provide strategic input on pricing, packaging, and positioning
Metrics & Impact
- Define and track success metrics for product marketing initiatives, including contribution to pipeline, win rates, and adoption
- Continuously test, learn, and iterate based on performance data and feedback from the field
Qualifications
- Proven experience in B2B product marketing, with at least 3+ years in cybersecurity or a related technical domain
- Proven success in leading product marketing at an early- or growth-stage startup
- Deep understanding of enterprise security buyers (CISOs, security architects, analysts) and buying processes
- Strong storytelling and content development skills, with a portfolio that demonstrates strategic thinking and executional excellence
- Comfortable operating with ambiguity, moving quickly, and building from scratch
- Experience supporting both product-led and sales-led growth motions is a plus
