Overview
Ashton Design is seeking a highly creative and motivated Senior Environmental Graphic Designer. The right candidate should have a thorough understanding of spatial design and the ability to engage users creatively and strategically across various contexts, ensuring both functional direction and aesthetic appeal. Additionally, the candidate should have a working knowledge of fabrication materials and methods related to signage and environmental graphics. This designer should be proactive, have strong people skills, and be capable of producing compelling designs independently and collaboratively in a team environment. All applicants must provide real-life examples of their work.
Responsibilities
- Design and manage signage, wayfinding, placemaking, and branded environment projects within both interior and exterior environments from concept (including sketching, 2D illustration, and 3D visualization) to installation
- Program spaces for occupancy use
- Create message schedules and sign location plans
- Actively participate in client meetings and presentations
- Develop strong relationships with clients, management, and client-facing teams
- Independently manage clients, project timelines, and scopes
- Demonstrate a willingness to travel for project analysis and documentation
- Effectively document designs for bidding and fabrication, prepare production-ready art files, and coordinate directly with vendors, contractors, and partners as needed
- Ensure that all projects are up to ADA and code standards
- Prepare punch list documentation for fabrication/installation errors or inconsistencies
- Mentor and lead other designers

Experience
- 7-10+ years of industry experience plus a degree in Graphic Design and/or Architecture
- Knowledge of signage fabrication, installation techniques, materials, construction, and ADA signage specifications
- Capable of reading and understanding architectural drawings
- Strong sense of design for a 3D context
- Ability to manage multiple complex projects at once
Key Skills
- Adobe Creative Cloud: Illustrator, CADtools, Photoshop, InDesign, Acrobat, Bridge
- Blender, AutoCAD/Revit, and other 3D programs experience is a plus
- SignAgent experience is a plus
- Ability to hand sketch concepts is a plus
- Google Suite: Drive, Sheets, Docs
- Microsoft Office: Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Word
- iWork: Keynote, Numbers, Pages
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
