Senior Software Engineer

Asenium is seeking a highly skilled Senior Kotlin Backend Engineer to join our client’s global data engineering team.

Location: Brazil (Mandatory location, 100% Remote)

Contract: 6 months (Freelance)

Start Date: ASAP

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop scalable backend components in Kotlin with a strong focus on performance and maintainability.
• Design and integrate APIs, including OpenAPI and webhooks.
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams across Product, UI, and Engineering.
• Conduct code reviews and contribute to technical best practices and guidelines.
• Troubleshoot, test, and debug backend systems, ensuring high reliability.
• Write and maintain clean, well-documented code and unit tests.
• Participate in architectural discussions and continuous improvement initiatives.

Must-Have Skills:

• 5+ years of backend development experience, with strong Kotlin proficiency.
• Experience designing and implementing scalable APIs.
• Advanced understanding of SQL and database fundamentals.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, DevOps, and automation.
• Solid grasp of asynchronous programming (e.g., Kotlin Coroutines).
• Fluent English communication skills (written & spoken).

Nice to Have:

• Hands-on experience with AWS (EC2, S3, RDS).
• Familiarity with data streaming tools such as Kafka, Flink, or Spark-Streaming.
