Data Scientist & Software Engineer

The Role:

We're looking for an experienced Data Scientist & Software Engineer to design and build critical components of a software platform focused on household electrification and sustainability. You’ll work alongside engineers, designers, and energy experts to develop high-quality, scalable, and impactful software that supports meaningful climate outcomes.

Ideal candidates thrive in mission-driven environments and are comfortable bridging the gap between engineering and data science. You should be excited about modeling real-world systems, deploying predictive tools into production, and building the user interfaces and infrastructure needed to deliver them effectively.

You may not identify strictly as a "data scientist," but you're fluent in data workflows and know how to translate insights into features that scale.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain full-stack software features and tools (using JavaScript, Python, etc.)
• Design and implement backend services (Python/Django) for job tracking, data management, and third-party integrations (e.g., utility APIs, finance platforms)
• Conduct R&D for new energy modeling algorithms and predictive techniques
• Collaborate on data analysis and create reporting solutions (ad hoc and self-service)
• Contribute to DevOps tasks such as CI/CD, infrastructure optimization, and security
• Participate in UX testing, product development, and stakeholder collaboration
• Build data-driven product features to improve customer workflows and energy outcomes

What You Bring:

• 5+ years in full-stack software development
• Strong skills in Python data science tools (NumPy, SciPy, Pandas, etc.) and core statistical/data analysis techniques
• Some experience in web development
• Clear communication and collaborative mindset
• Comfort operating in agile, fast-moving, purpose-driven teams

Nice to Have:

• Experience in energy, climate tech, HVAC, or related industries
• Familiarity with geospatial data, energy modeling, or solar/EV tech
• Contributions to open-source or sustainability-focused communities
• Knowledge of marketing analytics or UX optimization
• Background in physical sciences (e.g., physics, engineering)
• Experience with React or other modern frontend frameworks
