We are seeking a specialized UX/UI Designer to refine and redesign a Datadog-based dashboard that provides real-time visibility into partner uptime, system failures, and the overall product experience. The successful candidate will transform an existing draft into a high-density, actionable visualization tool that enables our team to triage partner issues across multiple geographies in seconds.
- Duration: 2–4 weeks (Part-time)
- Projected Effort: 54–66 Hours
- Max Pay rate: $90.51/hour
- Pay Comments: W2, weekly pay, benefits, 401k w/ match
Key Responsibilities & Deliverables
- Audit & Strategy: Conduct a “Current State Assessment” of the existing draft to document gaps and opportunities.
- Information Architecture: Define data hierarchies and filtering logic to support multi-partner and multi-geography views
- High-Fidelity Design: Produce 3–5 production-ready dashboard views.
- Prototyping: Build a clickable prototype demonstrating drill-downs, filtering, and alert states.
- Handoff: Create annotated design specifications tailored for internal engineering teams to implement within Datadog
Technical Challenges
- Visualization at Scale: Prominently display primary partners while keeping long-tail partners accessible without clutter.
- Geographic Drill-Downs: Enable a seamless flow from a global overview down to specific regions or countries.
- Platform Constraints: Design effectively within the specific widget types and technical capabilities of the Datadog platform.
Contractor Qualifications
- 5+ years of UX/UI design experience.
- A portfolio showcasing data visualization or monitoring dashboards (SRE, operations, or analytics contexts preferred).
- Proven experience designing for constraint-based platforms (e.g., Datadog, Grafana, Tableau).
- Expertise in creating production-ready specs for internal B2B or enterprise tools.
- Direct experience with Datadog dashboard design.- Preferred
- Background in visualizing hierarchical data (geography, tiers, or org structures). – Preferred
Engagement Structure
- This is a part-time contract including two rounds of revisions per deliverable.
- Kickoff: Review draft dashboard and align on partner hierarchy.
- Review 1: Present information architecture and wireframes.
- Review 2: Iterate on high-fidelity mockups.
- Handoff: Deliver final specs and interactive prototype.
