Lead Product Designer

Ecommerce/Digital Experience Is a Must Have

Job Description Summary: Our client, A leading digital gift card platform, is building a new kind of gift card – one that’s interactive, beautifully designed, and convenient to use. Millions of people have sent a digital gift, and we’re now raising the bar on the design and core experience of our product, as we move to reach millions more.

We’re looking for a Lead Designer who will bring world-class design, sharp product and business instincts, and who will set the design vision, manage the design team, and ship excellent work to leads us down the path they are charting.

Role Design isn’t decoration here, it’s the product. The digital gift itself is a designed object, and every step from discovery to purchase to the moment someone opens their gift is an experience we want people to love. As Lead Designer, you’ll own that experience end-to-end across product, brand, and design systems, partnering closely with Product, Engineering, Marketing, and the CEO. You’ll be a player-coach: setting direction and the quality bar, doing hands-on design, and managing the design team with immediate direct leadership over 4 direct reports (with an effective working group of about six).

What you’ll do

  • Own the design vision and quality bar across the core journeys: discover → purchase → send → redeem → repeat.
  • Design and ship end-to-end: research, flows, wireframes, high-fidelity UI, and polished handoff.
  • Elevate the brand: own a cohesive visual identity across the site, lifecycle email, landing pages, and campaigns.
  • Build and maintain the design system in Figma, hand-in-hand with Engineering.
  • Partner with Product and Engineering day-to-day – scoping, iterating, QA, and shipping consistently excellent experiences.
  • Partner with Marketing and Growth on campaigns, landing pages, lifecycle email, and acquisition creative – translating brand and performance goals into design that sells and makes customers happy.
  • Keep the experience cohesive across product and marketing surfaces, so the brand feels like one unified experience from first ad to redemption.
  • Use data and experimentation across both product and marketing – turning customer insight and A/B results into design decisions that lift conversion and retention.
  • Make a new type of gift card feel clear, trustworthy, and delightful.
  • Directly manage, mentor, and build the design team, holding hiring/firing authority and establishing team cohesiveness.

What we’re looking for

  • 6-9 years of product/UX design experience, with a portfolio of shipped consumer or e-commerce products.
  • E-commerce experience is a must-have, with strong preference for combined e-commerce and fintech/payments experience.
  • Strong range across product design, visual/brand design, and design systems – excellent at one, credible across the rest.
  • Expert in Figma, including building and maintaining component libraries.
  • A great eye for design and strong product taste – you have a strong attention to detail in UX, copy, flows, and finishing touches.
  • Comfort working with data and experimentation; you use analytics and A/B tests to inform and validate design.
  • Front-end literacy: you understand HTML/CSS, design within real constraints, and collaborate tightly with engineers.
  • Demonstrated people management skills with direct leadership experience managing product designers.
  • Marketing-only portfolios are insufficient.

Job highlights

  • Build a consumer product centered on delight, design, and meaningful connections reaching millions of people.
  • Be the senior design lead – define the craft, the system, and lead the team.
  • Join a small, remote-first team with high ownership and fast iteration.
  • Work at a stable, profitable yet ambitious company.
  • Work that ships to a large, engaged audience and moves core metrics directly.

Engagement details

  • Reports to: CEO
  • Location: Remote, US-based
  • Base Compensation: $200,000 – $250,000 base salary plus performance bonus potential.
  • Full Benefits.
