Back End Developer

A client is looking for a Backend Software Engineer who is responsible for Calendar product feature development, Build & deployment activities, tech stack upgrade, Resolving Security & Customer report tickets, and Cloud migration related activities.

Location: New York, NY 10003 (REMOTE)

Position: Backend Software Engineer

Pay Rate: $60-$65/hr. on W2 (depending on experience)

Duration: 6 months

Hours: 1st shift, M-F, 40 hrs. a week, must be flexible to work EST & PST

This is a Remote position

Interview Process: 2-3 round interview (including coding test)

JOB SUMMARY:

• This role is within the Mail group, which includes its flagship product. You will be starting on offense; the product line (4.5+ star apps & responsive web experiences), business, and tech (modern front-end stacks with significant backend re-architecture just beginning) provide a healthy start, with lots of upside to realize.
• Now, we need you to be a key part of our next chapter - embarking on the mission to create the best consumer-focused platform for running the “business of life,” in email and beyond. The calendar engineering team develops solutions powering our mail brands, including a next-generation infrastructure that we are 100% moving to a native public cloud architecture.
• The calendar team is responsible for creating the next-generation calendar and notepad experience, along with the supporting infrastructure, to help users effortlessly manage their daily lives.

Key team goals:

• Calendar product feature development, Build & deployment activities, tech stack upgrade, Resolving Security & Customer report tickets, Cloud migration related activities.

Primary responsibilities (daily/weekly):

• TBD, team follows agile methodology, follows bi-weekly sprints and tickets can be assigned as per priority.

Key projects or initiatives for the role:

• Calendar product feature development, Build & deployment activities, tech stack upgrade, Resolving Security & Customer report tickets, Cloud migration related activities.

Success metrics or KPIs for this role:

• Able to medium complex tasks independently in 1-2 months of time.

How is success measured?

• Meeting deadlines, meeting goals and objectives. Delivering of features requests/change requests with quality in production.

Must-have skills/qualifications (technical, soft skills, certifications, tools):

Java, working experience with web servers like Tomcat/Jetty/SpringBoot, Docker, Kubernetes framework, TestNG framework

• Experience with relational databases like MySQL, Oracle
• Cloud Experience with AWS/GCP
• Experience with continuous integration pipelines
• Experience building web applications to serve REST APIs

Ideal experience level (years, leadership, industries):

• 8+ years of experience

Any preferred industries or companies for background?

• Experience with high scale web applications
