Position Summary:

Applied Digital is seeking a Senior Software Engineer (Backend) to join our growing Software and IT organization. This role will help design, develop, and maintain scalable software solutions that power the systems, tools, and data infrastructure supporting Applied Digital’s high-performance Data Centers. The ideal candidate will be a self-sufficient developer who can contribute across the full stack, implement robust backend systems, and collaborate across disciplines to deliver production-quality code aligned with business objectives.

This role will play a key part in supporting initiatives such as the Tenant Portal, Data Hub and integration platform, and automation frameworks. The Senior Software Engineer will also contribute to long-term development goals around data engineering, intelligent automation, and AI model integration.

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field (or equivalent professional experience).
• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, preferably in full-stack or backend development roles.
• Proficiency in one or more core programming languages (e.g., Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, C#, Go).
• Experience developing and maintaining RESTful APIs, backend services, and web applications.
• Strong understanding of databases, including relational (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and non-relational (MongoDB, Redis) systems.
• Experience with DevOps or cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP) including deployment automation and container orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills in a fast-paced, iterative environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working with Data Center, industrial control, or automation systems.
• Experience working with cloud compute, parallel compute GPU systems.
• Familiarity with data engineering pipelines, ETL workflows, and data visualization tools, implementing infrastructure-as-code.
• Prior involvement in AI/ML or agentic system development.
• Understanding of ServiceNow development or customization within enterprise IT workflows.
• Certifications in cloud platforms or software development practices are a plus.

Physical Requirements:

• Able to remain in a seated position for an extended period and to lift and carry up to 15 lbs. (office manuals, case notebooks, case files, case materials, standard boxes, report binders, etc.) as needed.
