Senior Engineer - Live Video / Captioning

Remote anywhere in Europe/Africa within (GMT±2) | Full-time

Salary up to £120,000

A growing media-technology company is looking for a Senior Engineer to lead development of live video captioning features and systems. You'll work on real-time streaming, video processing, and accessibility capabilities, collaborating with cross-functional teams to build scalable, high-availability solutions.

What You'll Do

• Design, build, and maintain components for real-time video streaming and live captioning
• Ensure performance, scalability, and reliability in live video systems
• Collaborate with product, design, and backend teams to define technical requirements
• Review code, identify and resolve bottlenecks, and maintain high standards
• Stay current with video, media, and captioning technologies and best practices

What You'll Bring

• Several years' experience in video streaming, media, or real-time systems development
• Strong programming skills (e.g. Node.js, Go, Python, or equivalent) and familiarity with video/audio protocols
• Experience with live streaming tech, WebRTC, media encoding/decoding, captioning pipelines
• Solid understanding of scalability, latency, resilience, and distributed systems
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a remote team environment
