Essential Responsibilities

Crafting immersive animated environments and characters using the latest web and canvas frameworks
Architecting algorithms to select the right activity for the right student at the right moment.
Modeling data from student activities to show teachers just the right advice
Conceptualize and implement impactful new products or enhancements using AI
Simulating hundreds of thousands of kids to implement scaling, stability, and security improvements
Improving our deployment and testing automation pipelines
Architecting, implementing, and evangelizing a centralized API to provide classroom enrollment data for millions of users

Required Qualifications

BS/MS in Computer Science or equivalent
8+ years of professional software development experience
Proven technical, team, and organizational leadership
Ability to apply and promote strong CS and software engineering fundamentals
2+ years experience with a modern JavaScript framework (preferably React)
4+ years experience with server-side development preferably in Node.js, Java, or Python
Experience with database technologies (modeling, ORMs, tuning)
Experience deploying production systems in the cloud (AWS, GCP, Azure)
Experience building new systems, retiring old ones, and everything else in between
Strong communication skills in writing, conversation, and maybe silly gifs

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with tools we use every day:
Build: Linux, Code Pipeline, Terraform, Docker, SCSS
Storage: Postgres, Dynamo, S3, Snowflake
Deploy: AWS (EC2, Lambda, SQS, etc.), Datadog
Experience (professional or personal) with the latest AI Technologies: Large Language Models, Model Context Protocol, Automatic Speech Recognition, Computer Vision, etc.
Experience with tools we don’t use, but should, and the wisdom to know when to recommend them
Proven passion for building and learning: open source contributions, pet projects, self-education, Stack Overflow
Experience in education or ed-tech

What We Offer

Salary is only one component of the Amplify Total Rewards package, which includes a 401(k) plan, stock options, competitive health insurance and mental health options, basic life insurance, paid time off, parental leave, and access to best-in-class development programs. The gross salary range for this role is $160,000 - $175,000. This role is eligible to earn an annual discretionary bonus that rewards individual and company performance.
