The American Heart Association has a great opportunity for a Senior Marketing Communications Manager . This position can be home based.

The expected pay range is $80,000 - $120,000. Pay is commensurate with experience; geographic differentials to the pay range may apply. The American Heart Association reserves the right to pay more or less than the posted range.

The Senior Marketing Communications Manager serves as a strategic partner to the EVP of Development & Community Health and to the overall department, leading high-level, enterprise-wide communications that advance the organization’s revenue growth, campaign visibility, and strategic priorities. This role is responsible for crafting and executing internal and external communications that inform, influence, and inspire key stakeholders—including national C-suite and EVP leaders, national volunteer board members, and regional executive teams.

This leader will develop compelling executive narratives, strategic messaging, and multi-channel content, that translate complex data, campaign analytics into clear, actionable insights for sophisticated audiences. This position is pivotal in aligning Development and Community Health messaging with enterprise priorities and ensuring the EVP’s voice and vision are clearly represented across national platforms.

This leader will collaborate across National and Regional teams, marketing, data analytics, training, and development operations business units to synthesize campaign intelligence, drive strategic alignment, and campaign best practices to support staff readiness and market performance. This role will lead the design and delivery of communications strategies that cascade key messages to National and Region staff, fostering organizational clarity and cohesion. This role will also be responsible for formulating content for external national platforms (ie. national peer-to-peer conferences, podcasts, etc) that require our EVP to speak on behalf of the organization’s Development efforts.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as primary communications advisor and content creator for the EVP and Senior Leadership team, ensuring executive messaging is strategic, timely, and aligned with organizational goals.
  • Lead cross-functional collaboration and project manage producing high-impact communications, including presentations, talking points, briefings, and reports tailored for C-suite, board-level, and internal / external audiences.
  • Develop and manage communication plans for high-profile initiatives, staff engagement, training rollouts, and strategic announcements.
  • Translate complex fundraising updates into compelling narratives, visual content, and campaign materials that drive campaign visibility and stakeholder (internal/external/donor) engagement.
  • Support enterprise-wide initiatives through integrated communication strategies in partnership with marketing, development, and health impact teams. Manages and creates EVP communications. Delivers timely senior-level executive deliverables including scripts, presentations, correspondences to internal/external audiences, etc.
  • Maintains department credibility across heavily matrixed environment by developing, forming and enhancing strategic relationships across the enterprise.
  • Manages executive communications for department leadership including social media presence and speaking engagements that enhance the Association’s reputation for fundraising campaign innovation.
  • Collaborates with department leadership on special projects including creation, support, and execution of national campaign trainings, quarterly department meetings, department staff recognition, and executive preparation for national board meetings.
  • Create engaging content and visual assets that convey progress, inspire action, and reinforce the campaign’s mission and impact across multiple channels and audiences.
  • Assists colleagues with writing, editing, and proofreading written materials, newsletters, and national campaign collateral for internal and external audiences including executive leadership, donors, volunteers, and volunteer board members.
  • Incorporates key learnings from current events, business and nonprofit news, advances in science and technology, and other external trends to enhance communications deliverables including executive speeches, presentations, and strategic plans.
  • Oversees department’s internal SharePoint & Canva presence and identifies new communications vehicles and solutions utilizing modern technology.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Communications, Business or related non-profit work experience
  • Five (5) years of experience in communications, marketing or fundraising/sales
  • Three (3) years of experience developing project plans and executing against deadlines
  • Ability to manage group processes, form and develop strategic relationships
  • Understanding volunteer and donor perspective within creation of materials
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills with bottom-line mentality
  • May be required to travel 10%

Compensation & Benefits
