Overview:**
AOT is seeking a passionate and experienced Digital Marketing Curriculum Writer. This role is responsible for developing high-quality, engaging, and inclusive instructional materials that equip underrepresented youth with in-demand digital marketing skills. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in digital marketing strategy and tools, a talent for curriculum design, and a commitment to educational equity.
As a curriculum writer, you will design project-based lesson plans, hands-on activities, and assessments that cover core topics such as content marketing, social media strategy, paid advertising, email marketing, SEO/SEM, analytics, and relevant AI tools. Your work will directly support AOT’s mission of preparing the next generation of technology leaders by ensuring students gain the technical and professional skills needed to succeed in today’s digital economy.

Scope of Work:**
The curriculum writer will design a new course that reflects current trends and core best practices in Digital Marketing. This project begins with the curriculum writer conducting research and proposing a course outline. Then, they will create course materials in collaboration with AOT’s Curriculum Team.
Anticipated Timeline**: July - September 2025
Anticipated Hours: 5-10 hours per week
Virtual Meetings: Orientation meeting + biweekly syncs

Deliverables**: AOT’s courses take place online and are facilitated by an instructor. All content will be designed to work with that format and will leverage AOT’s content templates when relevant. The curriculum writer is responsible for creating:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:**
The Digital Marketing Curriculum Writer will:
Create engaging, culturally relevant, and project-based curriculum materials for digital marketing courses, including lesson plans, slide decks, instructor guides, student handouts, rubrics, and assessments.
Develop activities and case studies that reflect real-world marketing challenges and promote career readiness.
Include use of popular digital marketing platforms (e.g., Google Analytics, Canva, Mailchimp, Meta Ads Manager, HubSpot) in lessons where appropriate.
Write clear, structured, and age-appropriate instructional materials that are easy for both students and instructors to follow.
Ensure curriculum reflects current digital marketing trends, tools, and best practices, including AI integrations, SEO, social media marketing, content creation, email marketing, paid media, and analytics.
Build inclusive, accessible materials that meet the needs of learners from underrepresented backgrounds with varying levels of prior experience.
Work closely with AOT’s curriculum team to refine curriculum based on feedback and implementation outcomes.
Qualifications:
Required:
Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Education, Instructional Design, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
2+ years of professional experience in digital marketing (agency, corporate, or freelance).
1+ years of experience designing educational content, lesson plans, or instructional materials (formal or informal).
Strong knowledge of digital marketing concepts, including:
Social media strategy
SEO/SEM and Google Analytics
Content marketing and blogging
Paid media
Email marketing
Experience using or teaching digital marketing tools (e.g., Canva, Hootsuite, HubSpot, Google Ads/Analytics, Semrush).
Excellent writing, editing, and instructional design skills.
Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to produce polished, accurate, and user-friendly materials.
Passion for youth education, career access, and tech equity.
Ability to create inclusive and culturally responsive curriculum for diverse learners.
Preferred:
Experience working with high school or early college-aged students.
Familiarity with instructional design models (e.g., ADDIE, Bloom’s Taxonomy, or project-based learning).
Prior experience working in nonprofit, education, or workforce development sectors.
Experience delivering or supporting virtual instruction.
