About the Role:

Amber Labs is seeking a highly capable and forward-thinking Java Developer to join a fast-paced, high-profile digital project. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the development and deployment of AI-powered services within a transformative web-based application. Our current team has successfully delivered a Proof of Concept, and we’re now entering the next critical phase: building a robust prototype for real-world testing.

This role is ideal for a developer who thrives at the intersection of software engineering and artificial intelligence, with a passion for building scalable, production-ready systems that integrate machine learning models.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain Java-based services and APIs that support AI/ML model integration.
• Collaborate with data scientists and ML engineers to deploy models into production environments.
• Build scalable, secure, and maintainable backend systems to support AI-driven features.
• Implement monitoring, logging, and performance tuning for AI services.
• Ensure compliance with ethical AI standards, including fairness, transparency, and accountability.
• Participate in code reviews, sprint planning, and agile ceremonies.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of development practices and tooling.

Key Skills & Experience:

• Strong proficiency in Java with experience building RESTful APIs and microservices.
• Experience deploying and integrating AI/ML models into production systems.
• Familiarity with AI/ML frameworks and tools (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, ONNX, MLflow).
• Understanding of containerisation and orchestration (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
• Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and CI/CD pipelines.
• Knowledge of data pipelines, model versioning, and model monitoring best practices.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced, agile environment.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Experience working with government or public sector clients is a plus.

This role at Amber Labs is a 12 Month salary based FTC position, and all employees are required to hold active SC clearance. Please be advised that, at this time, we are unable to consider candidates who require sponsorship or hold a visa of any type.
