Summary

We're hiring a Senior Engineer to own critical parts of our AI agent platform. You'll design systems, write code, and ship. As the platform scales, so does your scope.

Description

Responsibilities

• Own defined parts of the platform architecture — boundaries are set with the principal engineer as the platform grows.
• Design and build the AI agent pipelines — document parsing, extraction, analysis, and pricing.
• Make infrastructure decisions across AWS that support 5x growth without 5x cost.
• Write production code daily.
• Define and enforce engineering standards through CI, linters, and code review.
• Build the data pipelines that process DOT state pricing, bid documents, and historical project data.
• Work directly with the founder and the existing principal engineer on product direction and technical tradeoffs.
• Set the quality bar through code review on every significant PR.
• Design systems that fail gracefully when AI outputs are wrong or incomplete.
• Build monitoring and observability so we know what's breaking before customers do.
• Contribute to hiring decisions as we grow.

Qualifications

Requirements

• 5+ years building production software, with increasing ownership over architecture and technical decisions.
• You've built and shipped systems that serve paying enterprise customers.
• You've designed systems that other engineers built on successfully — not just prototypes you maintained alone.
• Strong experience with Python and/or TypeScript in production.
• You've dealt with messy, real-world data — inconsistent formats, missing fields, documents that don't follow their own specs.
• You've worked with LLMs/AI in production — systems with real users and real failure modes, not side projects.
• You've operated infrastructure on AWS (or comparable cloud) — you understand cost drivers and operational reliability.
• You have strong technical opinions and update them when evidence warrants.
• You write readable code and communicate technical tradeoffs clearly to non-technical stakeholders.

Compensation: USD 5,000 – 8,000 per month
