The Role

We are seeking a talented and experienced Java Backend Developer to build and scale the core services that power AltumatimOS.

You will be the architect and builder of the “nervous system” of our platform, creating robust, high-performance, and secure microservices. A key part of this role involves integrating and orchestrating Large Language Models (LLMs) to drive our product’s investigative capabilities.

You will work closely with our AI, DevOps, and frontend teams to design and implement APIs and data processing logic that bring our intelligent agents to life.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable, high-performance backend services and APIs using Java and the Quarkus framework.
• Integrate and interact with Large Language Models (LLMs) and other AI services.
• Collaborate with frontend developers to define and build clean, efficient RESTful APIs.
• Work with complex datasets: data ingestion, processing, and retrieval using SQL databases and Elasticsearch.
• Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code with strong unit and integration testing practices.
• Partner with DevOps to ensure services are containerized (Docker), orchestrated (Kubernetes), and deployed via CI/CD pipelines.
• Participate in the full Agile software development lifecycle, from planning to deployment and maintenance.

Qualifications

Required

• 5+ years of professional backend development experience in Java.
• Proven experience integrating with AI/ML services or LLMs via APIs.
• Strong experience with modern Java frameworks: Quarkus, Spring Boot, or Micronaut.
• Experience designing and building RESTful APIs and microservices.
• Proficiency with relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and efficient SQL queries.
• Hands-on experience with Elasticsearch.
• Strong understanding of OOP, data structures, and algorithms.
• Experience with Docker containerization.
• Agile/Scrum team experience using tools like Jira.

Nice-to-Haves

• Familiarity with AI frameworks or libraries (LangChain, LlamaIndex).
• Experience with event-driven architectures and messaging systems (Kafka, Google Pub/Sub).
• Cloud platform experience (GCP or AWS).
• Knowledge of Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform) and CI/CD tools (Jenkins, Argo CD).
• Experience with identity/access management tools like Keycloak.

Education & Certifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field (preferred).

• Equivalent professional experience will be strongly considered.

• Relevant certifications are a plus:

• Cloud Certifications (AWS Developer, GCP Cloud Developer)

• AI/ML Certifications
