Job Title: Software Engineer III
Clearance Required: Public Trust
Work Location: Asheville, NC; Silver Spring, MD; Stennis, MS; Boulder, CO; Remote
Alpha Omega is actively looking to fill a position with the NOAA National Centers for Environmental Information (NCEI) Data Stewardship Division (DSD). This division works in partnership with NOAA and the broader community to develop and maintain a robust and efficient infrastructure of hardware, software, and processes to support the ingest, long-term preservation, and delivery of environmental data products spanning the depths of the ocean to the surface of the sun.
Key Responsibilities
Required Qualifications
Education:
A bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent industry certifications such as AWS Certified Developer -- Associate.
Experience/Skills:
4+ years of experience in full-stack development.
Proficiency in Java/Groovy, Python, JavaScript
Familiarity with data formats: XML and JSON
Experience with the Model View Controller design pattern
Experience with Git, or GitLab
The ability to think logically and analytically, and to approach problem solving strategically.
Ability to work collaboratively in a remote team environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
Grails or Spring Framework experience
Expert level knowledge of web technologies (HTML, JS, CSS)
Proficiency in XSLT
Cloud experience in AWS
Experience with Terraform
Strong knowledge of CI/CD practices and tools like GitLab, Jenkins, or AWS CodeCommit.
Experience with Kubernetes
Proficiency in Atlassian Jira for project management and issue tracking.
Familiarity with Agile/SAFe Scrum methodologies, with a focus on iterative development and team collaboration.
Preferred Certification(s): (at least one of the following)
AWS Certified Developer – Associate.
Salary And Benefit Information
The likely salary range for this position is $63,000 - $70,000. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. There are multiple factors that are considered in determining final pay for a position, including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and competencies that align to the specified role, education and certifications as well as contract provisions regarding labor categories that are specific to the position and could fall outside of this range.
