A Fortune 500 investment firm is seeking a Senior Product Designer with deep Android expertise to support a major modernization effort of its mobile application. The mobile platform is undergoing significant transformation, with a high volume of enhancements and new user experiences aimed at improving client satisfaction and App Store ratings.
Android development has been historically under-resourced compared to iOS, and leadership is investing in dedicated Android-focused teams to accelerate delivery. This role will be embedded directly within an Android agile squad, partnering closely with product owners and engineers to deliver high-quality, native Android experiences.
Key Responsibilities
- Create polished, implementation-ready Android UI designs aligned with modern platform standards.
- Translate product requirements into intuitive mobile experiences.
- Partner closely with Android engineers to discuss feasibility, technical tradeoffs, and implementation details.
- Produce high-quality deliverables, including: UI screens, and component designs, Design specifications and documentation and Interaction and behavior notes
- Contribute to scalable design system patterns aligned with Material Design.
- Apply product thinking to simplify complex workflows and user journeys.
- Support usability improvements and client experience enhancements.
- Participate in lightweight UX activities such as usability testing or feedback validation when needed.
Required Skills & Experience
Android Platform Expertise
- Deep experience designing native Android applications
- Strong understanding of:
- Material Design 3 principles
- Tokens, theming, and scalable component patterns
- Adaptive layouts and edge-to-edge UI
- Android vs. iOS behavioral differences
- Familiarity with modern Android UI frameworks (Jetpack Compose experience is a plus)
UI / UX Design
- Heavy UI focus (approximately 70% UI / 30% UX)
- Strong visual design and attention to detail
- Ability to design for multiple states (empty, loading, error, edge cases)
- Comfortable translating complex requirements into clean, intuitive interfaces
Tools & Collaboration
- Expert-level Figma skills (primary design tool)
- Strong prototyping capabilities
- Experience creating implementation-ready specs and engineering handoffs
- Ability to collaborate effectively with engineers and discuss feasibility constraints
Nice-to-Have Skills
- Experience designing data-heavy or chart-driven interfaces (Highcharts or similar ecosystems)
- Basic usability testing or UX research experience
- Accessibility familiarity (WCAG guidelines)
- Experience working within mature design systems
- Financial Industry experience
