Akkodis is seeking a full time Lead Aerospace Engineer / Project Manager with our dedicated team and avionics partnership in the Tampa Bay, FL or Grand Rapids, MI area for a hybrid/remote role.

We are also open to considering remote-based candidates with stellar avionics industry expertise with the understanding there will be 20-30% of required travel to the FL and/or MI facilities.

Qualified candidates will possess greater than 8 years of professional engineering experience within the avionics/aerospace industry with a prior focus on systems and/or hardware to include some level of leadership.

This position is covered under Dept of Defense regulations, and candidates are required to be U.S. Citizens.

Pay Range: Up to $180,000/yr (salary commensurate based on experience and education levels).

Lead Aerospace Engineer / Project Manager job responsibilities include:

Responsible for developing and managing engineering / technology projects. Interfaces with internal/external customers to ensure organization resource allocation is made. Accountable to deliver the scope of work to the budgeted cost. Manages schedule, budget and integration of NPI projects, including influencing the projects to meet customer CTQs and hit tollgate milestones. Responsibilities include:

Form project teams for systems, software, test equipment and hardware development.
Develop integrated schedules with cost and staffing requirements.
Managing external technology component and sub-system suppliers including authoring Statements of Work.
Lead engineering content for gate reviews (Tollgates) and participate in fact-finding meetings with customers.
Support or lead various management meetings and report to senior/executive leadership.
Develop and revise engineering project plans, managing scope, schedule, and cost changes.
Monitor and report project performance, including key metrics and variances.
Develop and execute risk management plans and assist in mentoring junior Engineering Project Managers.
Communicate business goals, programs, and processes effectively and solve problems using experience or expertise.
Provide timely communications on significant issues or developments, focusing on safety and reliability.
Communicate with customers on project performance and schedule
Communicate with management on project technical, cost, resource, and schedule
Lead responses to proposals for both technical directions, writeups and cost estimates.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s Degree in an engineering major from an accredited college or university.
Greater than 8 years of professional overall engineering experience to include all levels of leadership experience.
This position is covered under Dept of Defense regulations, and candidates are required to be U.S. Citizens.
Prior design/development engineering experience within the avionics, aviation, or aerospace industry is required.
Knowledge of Data Transfer Systems products or Platform Computing products.
Prior NPI project or program management experience while leading a multi-disciplined NPI project through its full life cycle.
Experience with systems, hardware, and software design is desired.
Demonstrated successful leadership by influence in a multi-domain organization.
Experience building effective teams and managing projects.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
PMP certification is helpful.
