What does this role do at AHIMA?

The Sr. Graphic Designer we're looking for will be responsible for contributing to the success of the Creative Layout team and producing books and publications across the enterprise. The ideal candidate will be experienced in using, creating, and optimizing InDesign layouts, book production, and will demonstrate an interest in learning new skills and techniques, have a great attitude, and would love to work on a successful and entertaining team. What are some of the responsibilities?

Complete layout assignments for print and digital product delivery using Adobe InDesign and other Creative Suite applications as needed (including Acrobat, Illustrator, Photoshop, etc.)
Work closely with the Creative Layout Team Lead to support special projects and tasks
Collaborate with internal customers and team members to manage project timelines and expectations.
Adapt to changing priorities to accommodate various project needs
Accurately and consistently maintain job status details, tracking, and file management.
Utilize established guidelines and processes to perform job functions
Additional duties as assigned

What are the knowledge and skills requirements?

5+ years of experience in layout and page design, print projects, publishing, or related fields, with a strong understanding of brand and design principles, as well as digital development.
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience preferred.
Highly experienced with Adobe InDesign for print (style sheet design and modification, book template creation, parent pages, book files, text variables, tables, etc.)
XML experience a plus
Marketing, design and video experience a plus
Experienced with Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat)
Ability to transform manuscripts into cohesive, well-designed books that accurately convey the author's message and meaning while ensuring readability and visual appeal.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (primarily Word, Excel, Outlook); including extracting content for use in other applications
Ability to troubleshoot projects and tasks to find and correct potential pitfalls
User of Microsoft Office tools with advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office PowerPoint.
Must be able to take direction, accept and use constructive feedback for improvement. Champions a culture of teamwork.
Proficient at page layout and experienced with publishing concepts, practices, and procedures.
Able to handle multiple projects, deadlines, and expectations with an upbeat attitude
Independently organizes work and efficiently manages time to meet production schedules, while contributing to several projects concurrently.
Self-motivated team member who shows initiative.
Strong attention to detail.
