About The Role

We are seeking an entrepreneurial and ambitious UX/UI Designer to join our Business Incubator team. This role offers a unique opportunity to lead the design and user experience of a new startup initiative from inception to execution. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for developing intuitive, engaging, and innovative user interfaces that align with our business goals and user needs. Working closely with a small, talented team that includes a CTO developer and a product manager, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the product’s visual and functional aspects. The environment is fast-paced and collaborative, providing an exciting platform for creative problem-solving and impactful design.

In addition, you will have the opportunity to work alongside some of the UK’s most successful entrepreneurs, including James Benamor, and other business specialists who will provide guidance and support throughout your journey. This role not only offers a chance to influence a new business but also to become a co-founder, giving you a significant stake in the company's future direction and success.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, candidates should have proven experience managing their own projects from concept to completion. A strong background as a mobile app UX/UI designer is essential, demonstrating a portfolio of work that showcases your ability to create user-friendly and aesthetically pleasing interfaces. Proficiency in design and prototyping tools such as Sketch, Axure, or other rapid prototyping software is required, along with familiarity with development frameworks like Ruby on Rails.

Experience working within Agile methodologies, particularly Scrum, is highly desirable. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with excellent communication skills, capable of collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders. A passion for innovation, a user-centric mindset, and the ability to adapt quickly in a startup environment are critical attributes for this role.

Responsibilities

Design and develop engaging user interfaces for mobile applications and web platforms, ensuring a seamless and intuitive user experience.

Translate business requirements into clear, compelling visual designs and prototypes.

Conduct user research and usability testing to gather insights and iterate on designs accordingly.

Collaborate closely with developers, product managers, and other stakeholders to ensure design feasibility and alignment with project goals.

Maintain consistency in branding, style, and user experience across all digital touchpoints.

Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies to continuously improve design quality.

Take ownership of the design process, from initial concepts through to final implementation, ensuring deadlines are met.

Participate in sprint planning and review sessions, providing input on user experience improvements and feature enhancements.
