Backed by the African Food Network, our team connects thousands of food lovers, chefs, vendors, and cultural stakeholders through live festivals, digital content, and powerful storytelling. As we expand our reach and prepare for major festival editions in 2025, we are hiring a Graphic Designer to lead the visual storytelling behind the brand and help us create scroll-stopping, high-conversion designs across platforms.
Job Overview
As the Graphic Designer, you will be responsible for developing visual assets that define and elevate the AFDF brand. You will work closely with the Festival Marketing Director and the Founder to translate campaign ideas into high-impact visual content for digital, print, and social platforms. This role requires someone with a strong design eye, fast execution ability, and a deep understanding of visual communication in a culturally-driven, event-based brand.
Key Responsibilities
Campaign Design
- Design flyers, banners, and digital promo materials for festival announcements, vendors, speakers, chefs, partners, and daily schedules
- Create branded materials such as event signage, wristbands, stage visuals, and merchandise mockups.
Social Media Graphics
- Develop platform-optimized visuals for Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, X, and YouTube.
- Design carousels, story posts, quote templates, countdowns, and engagement prompts
Marketing & Communication Collateral
- Design visual assets for newsletters, pitch decks, proposals, and press kits
- Support all digital campaign materials with consistent, professional branding.
Template & System Development
- Create reusable graphic templates for the internal team
- Ensure brand consistency and quality control across all creative output
Requirements and Qualifications
- 2 to 3 years of experience designing for events, lifestyle brands, or marketing campaigns
- Strong portfolio of flyers, carousels, banners, and campaign visuals
- Mastery of Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Figma, or Canva
- Ability to design quickly without compromising quality
- Strong understanding of layout, hierarchy, font pairing, and color use
- Experience designing for African or culture-driven brands is an advantage
- Excellent communication skills and ability to interpret creative direction
- Organized and detail-oriented with solid version control and asset management habits
Preferred Skills
- Basic motion design or animated graphics
- Familiarity with African visual culture, food media, or entertainment design
- Experience working in a fast-paced creative environment
- Knowledge of marketing principles (conversion, visual hooks, CTA placement)
- Comfortable using Google Drive, Notion, or project management tools
