The Role

We are looking for a Senior Frontend Tech Lead (Romania Only) to own and evolve the architecture of our core product.

This is a frontend-heavy architect role with meaningful backend integration responsibility. You will act as the “CEO of the frontend architecture” — owning technical direction, long-term scalability, performance, and maintainability of the system.

You will lead by doing. This is a high-ownership Individual Contributor role that blends fast-paced hands-on coding with high-level architectural design. A major responsibility will be re-architecting and rebuilding an existing system to support extreme scale and performance.

What You’ll Do

Architect and rebuild our frontend platform with a focus on scalability, performance, and maintainability
Own frontend technical decisions end-to-end, from system design to implementation
Design and implement high-performance Canvas-based rendering systems
Build advanced UI patterns and reusable component systems
Collaborate closely with backend engineers to design type-safe, performant APIs
Lead architectural discussions and mentor other engineers through example
Monitor, debug, and optimize production systems used by real customers
Handle production issues, incidents, and performance bottlenecks with confidence

Core Requirements

Frontend (Primary Focus — Non-Negotiable)

React + TypeScript (expert-level)
Vite, pnpm
Canvas Rendering (Critical Requirement)

Proven production experience with one or more:

Fabric.js
Konva.js
PixiJS
Raw HTML5 Canvas / WebGL

This is the #1 make-or-break skill for the role.

State & Data Management
TanStack Query (React Query) — advanced usage of queries & mutations
Routing: TanStack Router (preferred) or React Router
UI & Design Systems
Headless UI approach (Base-UI, shadcn/ui, or similar)
Storybook for component documentation
Figma → code workflows
Experience implementing advanced UI patterns (e.g., infinite grids, large virtualized layouts)

Backend & Integration

Languages: Strong Python knowledge (required for BE-FE integration)
API Design & Communication
OpenAPI + TypeScript (type-safe requests)
WebSockets

Queue-based systems
Databases: RDBMS / SQL

Testing & Observability

Testing: Vitest, React Testing Library
Monitoring & Observability:

Experience with Sentry, Coralogix, Datadog, Grafana, Prometheus, or similar tools

Seniority & Experience

8+ years of professional software engineering experience
Proven experience building or significantly evolving production systems from scratch
Deep frontend expertise with modern React + TypeScript ecosystems
Strong architectural judgment and ability to evaluate trade-offs between:

Scalability
Cost
Maintainability
Prior experience in high-velocity startup environments (required)
Comfortable owning systems used by real users at scale
