Aeroflow Health – Node.js/Typescript Backend Software Engineer

About Aeroflow Health

Aeroflow Health is transforming the home health products and services industry. We’ve built a better way of doing business that prioritizes our customers, communities, and coworkers. As one of the fastest-growing DME/HME companies in the U.S.—recognized by Inc. 5000 for seven consecutive years—we’re looking for a Node.js/TypeScript Backend Software Engineer to join our growing team of 100+ engineers.

You’ll be joining our API Middleware Team, a group of six seasoned engineers focused on building and scaling serverless APIs that connect Aeroflow’s internal systems, external partners, and product experiences.

The Opportunity

You’ll work as an individual contributor and collaborator within our API Middleware team—designing, implementing, and maintaining robust RESTful APIs and microservices in a serverless AWS environment. You’ll partner closely with product delivery teams, technical leads, and business stakeholders to turn ideas into scalable, high-quality solutions.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with project and technical leads to prioritize work in an Agile environment.
  • Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and improve backend REST APIs using Node.js and TypeScript.
  • Contribute to the architecture of serverless microservices.
  • Integrate with third-party systems and services.
  • Support, maintain, and debug high-volume production applications.
  • Participate in peer code reviews to ensure code quality and reliability.
  • Help improve team processes, efficiency, and codebase quality.
  • Maintain HIPAA compliance and protect patient confidentiality.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of backend development experience (preferably with Node.js and TypeScript).
  • Equivalent experience in another modern backend language (e.g., Python, Java, Go) with strong familiarity in Node.js/TypeScript is also welcome.
  • Proven experience building and designing REST APIs.
  • Deep understanding of microservice architecture, particularly within a serverless AWS context.
  • Hands-on experience with AWS Lambda, SNS, SQS, DynamoDB, S3, and CloudFront.
  • Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (AWS CloudFormation or CDK).
  • Experience supporting and debugging applications in production environments.
  • Strong understanding of Git and Jira or similar project management tools.
  • Knowledge of basic system or network administration (AWS experience sufficient).

You Might Also Have:

  • SQL experience and familiarity with relational database design.
  • Leadership or mentoring experience (formal or informal).
  • Hands-on experience with Next.js or similar backend frameworks.
  • Experience with React or other frontend frameworks.

What We Look For

We’re seeking motivated engineers who:

  • Deliver high-quality, reliable, and testable code.
  • Collaborate openly across teams and disciplines.
  • Take ownership of their work and pursue continuous improvement.
  • Balance ambition with practicality—meeting deadlines without sacrificing quality.
  • Care deeply about creating products that improve patients’ lives.

Perks And Benefits

  • Competitive pay
  • Health, dental, and vision insurance (FSA/HSA options)
  • 401(k) with company match
  • 12 weeks paid parental leave (birthing parent) / 4 weeks (non-birthing)
  • Additional family benefits (fertility stipend, free diapers, breast pump)
  • Paid holidays + PTO from day one
  • Employee Assistance Programs and more

Recognition

  • Inc. 5000 Best Places to Work
  • Family Forward Certified
  • HME Excellence Award
  • Sky High Growth Award
