SR. Software Engineer - Medical Imaging Specialist

This is a fully remote role and does not require you to be based in the U.S or Canada., as long as you have strong overlap with Eastern Time (U.S.) working hours.

We’re a nimble, fast-moving team looking for a SR. Software Engineer - Medical Imaging Specialist who excels in a hands-on, high-ownership environment. You’ll help design, build, and support medical imaging software, working across development, integration, troubleshooting, and customer-facing technical guidance.

What You’ll Do

• Developing software solutions to problems in medical imaging.
• Creating automated tests (unit, integration, etc).
• Creating documentation for code and system components, interactions, etc.
• Debugging and/or troubleshooting software issues.
• Conducting code reviews.
• Mentoring team members in medical imaging concepts and problem-solving techniques.
• Providing imaging specialist advice in the area of medical imaging software as needed.
• Adhere to safety rules, company policies and procedures, US FDA QSR and ISO standards.
• Partner closely with Product, UX, Backend, and QA teams to deliver intuitive, clinician-focused imaging tools.
• Conduct thorough code reviews and promote engineering best practices across TypeScript, React, and Next.js.
• Produce component-level design documents, developer guides, and internal training materials to support long-term maintainability and onboarding.

What You Bring

• Experience with modern browser-based rendering technologies such as WebGL, WebGPU, and/or WebAssembly (WASM), particularly in performance-sensitive or graphics-intensive applications.
• Deep knowledge of applied math and/or numerical computation techniques as applied to medical imaging data and workflows.
• Strong knowledge of DICOM and working with multi-dimensional imaging data.
• Familiarity with image processing / analysis techniques, tools and libraries used to solve complex problems in image segmentation, registration, and manipulation.
• Expert-level coding, debugging and troubleshooting skills in at least one modern programming language (i.e. TypeScript, C++, etc.)
• Experience with OHIF, Cornerstone3D or VTK.js is highly desirable.
• Experience with web development with TypeScript is desirable.
• Excellent communication skills in English.
• BS degree in Computer Science or relevant field or equivalent work experience.
