Why AdPipe
Video is hard; we’re making it easy. Fresh off a $12M Series A, AdPipe is further investing in our AI‑powered video platform, already used by some of the most respected marketing organizations in the world, to repurpose existing, authentic content into new engaging videos, fast. We help creative teams work smarter and empower every marketer to ship high‑quality video without having to learn the ins and outs of an NLE.
At the core of our platform sits:
- A high‑throughput ingestion pipeline that indexes large media libraries for search and AI automation.

- An in‑browser video editor that interfaces with both users and AI.

The Role
We’re looking for an engineer who is equally at home fine‑tuning our in‑browser editor as streamlining our ingestion pipeline—someone who enjoys moving up and down the stack, profiling performance, and shipping thoughtfully designed UX that’s backed by reliable, scalable services.
What you’ll do
- Advance the editor: Improve timeline performance, rendering, effects, transitions, and non‑destructive editing; you’ll need to balance leveraging the most up-to-date browser features with broader compatibility goals.

- Scale ingestion & search: Evolve a pipeline that ingests, transcodes, fingerprints, and indexes media and metadata for low‑latency search and AI assistance

- AI workflows: Interface with models outputs (captions, cuts, voiceover, style templates) directly into editor UX; design safe fallbacks and human‑in‑the‑loop review.

- Own reliability: Instrument SLIs/SLOs for ingest throughput, time‑to‑first‑frame, preview FPS, and search relevance; remove toil with automation.

- Collaborate & lead: Partner with Design, Product, QA, and Data Science to scope thin slices, run experiments, and mentor engineers. For Staff level, drive cross‑team architecture.

Qualifications — what you likely bring
- Senior: multiple years building complex web apps/services; Staff: multiple years of domain/architecture leadership experience.

- Media experience: Practical knowledge of FFmpeg/GStreamer, codecs (H.264/HEVC/AV1), containers, and streaming (HLS/DASH).

- Frontend depth: Strong JavaScript/TypeScript skills and comfort with modern video tooling in the latest browsers:  WebGL/WebGPU, WebCodecs, Web Workers, etc.

- Backend chops: Experience designing APIs and services.

- Data & search: Comfortable with relational stores (Postgres) and a search/indexing system (vector DB for semantic retrieval).

- Quality mindset: You write tests, ship observability (logs/metrics/traces), and collaborate closely with QA.

- Product sense: You care about editor ergonomics and performance budgets as much as quality.

How we work
- Frontend: TypeScript, Phoenix LiveView, PixiJS, WebGL, Web Workers, WebCodecs

- Backend: Elixir/Phoenix, Python for ML tasks, Postgres, Qdrant, FFmpeg

- Infra: Docker, AWS, ECS, MediaConvert, OpenTelemetry.

Leveling expectations
- Senior: Delivers end‑to‑end features, leads small projects, mentors, raises quality bars.

- Staff: Sets technical direction across domains, decomposes long-term initiatives, creates leverage through standards and platform work.

Compensation & benefits
Base Salary: Senior: $180k–$210k, Staff: $230k-260k
Meaningful equity
- Benefits: Medical, dental, vision, 401(k), Flexible PTO, Parental Leave

- Location/visa: USA - not able to sponsor visa at this time
