Senior Full Stack Engineer (Java / React) | Remote from Portugal

We are looking for an experienced Senior Full Stack Engineer to join a high-performing engineering team working on large-scale enterprise platforms. This is an opportunity for a hands-on technical expert who thrives in complex environments, contributes to architectural decisions, and leads by example while remaining actively involved in software development.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement scalable, secure, and production-ready software solutions.
• Lead technical discussions and contribute to architecture decisions across distributed systems.
• Develop and maintain high-quality back-end services and front-end applications.
• Mentor and support other engineers through technical guidance, code reviews, and knowledge sharing.
• Drive engineering excellence by reducing technical debt and improving software quality.
• Collaborate closely with product and business stakeholders to translate requirements into effective technical solutions.
• Promote best engineering practices, including automated testing, continuous integration, and continuous delivery.
• Contribute to the adoption of AI-assisted development practices and the integration of AI capabilities into applications where appropriate.

Required Skills & Experience

• 8+ years of experience in software engineering within large-scale enterprise environments.
• Strong expertise in Java, including Spring, Spring Boot, and Spring Cloud.
• Solid experience designing and developing Microservices and REST APIs.
• Strong front-end development experience with React (4+ years), TypeScript, and advanced JavaScript.
• Experience working with Kubernetes or Cloud Foundry.
• Good understanding of CI/CD pipelines, particularly with Jenkins.
• Experience with distributed systems, resilience patterns, observability, and cloud-native architectures.
• Strong knowledge of Extreme Programming (XP) practices, including TDD, BDD, remote Pair Programming, and code reviews.
• Experience with automated testing frameworks such as JUnit, Mockito, and Selenium/Protractor.
• Practical experience using AI development tools such as GitHub Copilot and ChatGPT to improve productivity, code quality, testing, and refactoring.
• Knowledge of LLM integration and AI-powered application development is highly valued.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Fluent English, both written and spoken.
• Strong engineering mindset, excellent communication skills, and a passion for technical leadership.
