Workplace Engineer (Software Packaging)

Job Description

Our client is a trusted partner in the financial-banking sector in Germany, both in the public and private sectors who offers services for over 150,000 banking workstations and for more than 4,500 employees. It covers over 60% of banking sector in Germany. The client aims to enhance efficiency and is exploring collaboration with service providers to support and potentially take over the full workplace management topic, including software packaging, deployment, and device management across Windows and macOS platforms.

The role is part of a key area responsible for the operational management of software applications within the client’s standard workplace setup. The primary focus is on packaging and deploying software for Windows workstations, with plans to extend packaging to macOS environments as well.

The current packaging solutions are SCCM (Windows) and WorkspaceOne (macOS), with Microsoft Intune (Windows OS) and JAMF (macOS) planned for future adoption.

Responsibilities

• Software Packaging & Deployment: Responsible for efficiently packaging, deploying, and maintaining applications across Windows and macOS, using SCCM and transitioning to Intune, while managing both standard and complex custom-built solutions with support from PSADT for advanced configurations and scripted installs.
• Workflow & Lifecycle Management: Oversee the complete application lifecycle - from packaging and testing to deployment, monitoring, and 2nd/3rd level support, ensuring alignment with testing standards, validation with stakeholders, and accurate documentation in the central knowledge base.
• Ticket & Request Handling: Manage deployment requests through JIRA, prioritizing based on business urgency, and collaborating with application owners to meet functionality and security requirements.
• Governance & Collaboration: Ensure packaging aligns with future cloud and MDM strategies (Intune, JAMF), contribute to process improvements, and support the strategic shift toward nearshored workplace management operations.

Qualifications

Must Have:

-  3+ years of proven experience in software packaging and deployment in enterprise environments (SCCM), including Powershell App Deploy Toolkit (PSADT). 
- Experience managing the full application lifecycle (packaging, testing, deployment, post-deployment support). 
- Strong organizational and prioritization skills; experience working in agile environments. 
- Proficiency in English (B2+), both written and spoken.

Nice to Have:

- Proficiency in German (B2/C1)
- Experience with Microsoft Intune, WorkspaceOne, and JAMF
- Experience with device and software packaging migration projects. 
- Familiarity with mobile device management (MDM) and automation tools. 
- Previous experience in financial-banking sector workplace management.
