About The Role

Abnormal AI is seeking a Senior Software Engineer with strong passion for Security & Privacy to join the Data Security team. In this role, you will help protect customer data by implementing rigorous Security and Privacy standards along with robust governance practices. You will design, develop, and refine platform solutions that enforce strict Authentication, Authorization and Auditability (AAA) principles, ensuring all customer data access is properly verified, appropriately permitted, and comprehensively logged. The ideal candidate will have

  • Practical Security mindset - ability to identify and address security vulnerabilities across the entire software development and operations lifecycle, delivering effective solutions that balance security with real-world business needs.
  • Expertise in transforming Security & Privacy requirements into actionable technical strategies, leading projects from concept to completion with precision and impact.
  • Expertise, passion, and creativity in implementing innovative, AI-native approaches in our technical solutions.
  • Skill in fostering cross-team collaboration with product engineering teams to both seamlessly integrate Security & Privacy best practices into microservice architecture and eliminating implementation overhead for development teams.
  • The potential to advance into a leadership role within the team, setting, owning, and delivering key initiatives for the Multi-Product Platform division that have a broad impact across multiple teams.

What you will do

  • Apply practical Security principles and AI-native strategies to technical design and development, balancing business requirements, engineering resources, and infrastructure cost.
  • Architect and own AI-native workflows to provide direct leverage for the team.
  • Lead and deliver large-scale projects for the Data Security team, enforcing Security & Privacy standards to support ongoing product and market expansion.
  • Design and implement secure and scalable customer data governance frameworks that enable Security and Privacy by design.
  • Reconcile Platform and Security & Privacy requirements, building a secure platform that empowers global engineering teams to deliver high quality software at high velocity.
  • Actively mentor and support the growth of junior team members

Must Haves

  • BS degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or other related engineering field.
  • 5+ years of experience as a Software Engineer.
  • Strong software development, CAP theorem, and system design tradeoffs.
  • Experience with Authentication & Authorization and Data Security & Privacy problem space, best practices, and related technologies.
  • Ability to differentiate must-have versus nice-to-have Security and Privacy requirements.
  • Proven track record of leading complex projects and delivering high quality software.
  • Experience with Golang and Python programming languages.

Nice to Have

  • Ability to convert business problems into technical deliverables.
  • Ability to prioritize, articulate business tradeoffs, and cut scopes to deliver the most important business objectives in a timely manner.
  • Experience leading small teams delivering multi-quarter projects or initiatives.
