About the Role
This opportunity is for a Data Scientist who will use advanced SQL and Python expertise to support high-impact analytical work, modernize data strategies, and deliver actionable insights through complex data analysis and modeling.
The role involves working with large-scale data, supporting decision-making, and translating technical findings into clear business recommendations.
This position combines advanced analytics, data lifecycle management, stakeholder communication, and cross-functional collaboration in a fast-paced environment with multiple high-priority projects.
Work Schedule: Availability to collaborate during core business hours, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM EST.
Quarterly in-person meetings in the Washington, D.C. area are required.
What You’ll Do
- Develop and implement databases and collection systems to acquire data from primary and secondary sources.
- Document SQL models to support efficient and well-structured data management.
- Perform advanced data manipulation, data wrangling, and exploratory data analysis to identify and interpret complex trends within large-scale datasets.
- Use statistical software and modeling techniques to generate synthesized, actionable insights for senior leadership and client stakeholders.
- Communicate technical findings to non-technical users through data visualizations, briefings, and executive-level slide presentations.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to extract and translate insights from both structured and unstructured data sources.
- Manage multiple high-priority projects simultaneously while meeting strict deadlines in a collaborative environment.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field such as Data Science, Applied Mathematics, or Statistics.
- Master’s degree or completion of a data science boot camp is a plus.
- Two or more years of experience in a data science role.
- Experience in federal financial regulatory environments or government contracting is preferred.
- Advanced proficiency in Python, including tools such as Pandas, NumPy, and Matplotlib.
- Advanced SQL skills for architecting and modifying complex code within relational database management systems.
- Experience using data warehousing solutions to query and extract insights from high-volume, large-scale datasets.
- Understanding of descriptive statistics, inferential statistics, and regression modeling.
- Ability to use generative AI tools, including LLMs and agent-based coding, to help automate workflows.
- Proficiency with a broad range of data science technologies, such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, Scikit-learn, NLP tools, R, SAS, Plotly, NoSQL, Power BI, and Excel.
- Experience with Palantir products is a plus.
- Must be able to pass a background investigation and obtain and maintain a Public Trust determination.
- U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Resident status is required.
Base Salary Range: $103,000 – $127,000 per year
This role is also eligible for bonus pay. Compensation may vary based on relevant skills, training, experience, education, market factors, and, where applicable, licenses or certifications.
